The New Yorker recently published an article featuring playwright-screenwriter Jez Butterworth. In it, there is a mention of Butterworth polishing the script for the next James Bond film.

"On returning to London, he would start on a rewrite of the forthcoming James Bond movie." - Emma Brockes/New Yorker

John Logan wrote the first Bond 24 script and then in June of this year fellow Skyfall screenwriters, Neal Purvis and Robert Wade, were brought in to polish it up. Now the script is in the hands of Butterworth, who was part of team (Christopher McQuarrie & John-Henry Butterworth) that wrote the screenplay for Tom Cruise's Edge of Tomorrow. Butterworth also polished the Skyfall script, but he did not receive a writing credit.

BOND 24 will be directed by Sam Mendes ("Skyfall"), from a screenplay written by John Logan. The cast will include: Daniel Craig as James Bond (007), Ralph Fiennes as M, Naomie Harris as Miss Moneypenny, and Ben Whishaw as Q. The film will be released in the UK and US on October 23, 2015 and November 6, 2015, respectively.

Just make it better than that snorefest Skyfall.

This is pretty much how it always goes for every Bond movie. It goes through a lot of rewrites and writers before they go with the final product and it's all done really quickly (hence why they haven't even started shooting yet the film comes out in one year.

@Nubase sounds like what Nolan did with TDKR. Physical threat. Mendes even said skyfall was inspired by elements of TDK which is evident

Skyfall was kind of meh for me, but the only thing I really didn't like was them killing off Judi Dench. Loved her as M.

Skyfall was a fantastic film; I'm really not getting the hate at all. I know a large amount of people must've liked it thought if it grossed over 1 Billion at the box office, had a 92% RT score, AND an "A" cinemascore. Regardless, I'm excited for Bond 24 and I hope it's just as good as the last.

It sounds like they want the Bond 24 script to be the best possible script.

Mendes was the perfect choice as director of the Bond reboot at this point in the series. His schtick has always been examining the underlying truth beneath culturally defined values of 'family structure' and their facades.

'Revolutionary Road' (which contains Michael Shannon's best performance and the first DiCaprio performance where I forgot that it was Leo playing a character other 'Gilbert Grape') and 'American Beauty' are his best examples of this.

From the amazing 'Casino Royale', Bond's journey has been INWARD...and I can see how 'Skyfall' is "boring" to some, but look at the ones claiming as such.
