The Hollywood Reporter has revealed that Drew Pearce has been hired by Paramount to write the fifth Mission Impossible movie. It was recently announced that Tom Cruise will return as 'Ethan Hunt', while the site goes on to reiterate those recent rumours about Jack Reacher's Christopher McQuarrie being in talks to helm the film. Apparently, the plan is to shoot the movie as soon as this fall after work on Warner Bros.' The Man From U.N.C.L.E. concludes. Plot details are still being kept under wraps, but this news should come as very good news for fans of Iron Man 3.

[frick]ing up The Mandarin?...ehhh... not so much."

I beg CBM, can we pin this somewhere visible as an example of a biased comment NO ONE should write.

@ Intruder

I thought the Kingpin was pretty good.

Galactus was a big puss out if you ask me. Come one FOX a giant cloud in space?!?!?!

Well come to think about it FOX tends to screw everything up LOL!

@ SlaveMasterFlex

If DC pulled that move in one of their movies Trudy and his trolls would be all over it. But because Marvel Studios did it, it is magic etc....

LOL and yes for us purists who do like IM and have been reading those comics since they were 9 are allowed to be major butt hurt!

Yeah, IM3 had way more problems than just the mandarin twist (although that was huge too). For example, how come Tony's armor can take a smash from Mjolnir yet break like lego when hit by a truck? Just so many things wrong
JoeMomma29
JoeMomma29 - 5/14/2013, 7:45 PM
LOL now that is funny! Intruder stressing they did not stay true to the Kingpin but the Mandarin raping was okay!

I have to agree with you! LOL you would think some people were highly invested in these movies, when they get jack $hit!!!

I've said this before, I'll say it again.

It's not the fact that we're hardcore (well at least im not) Mandarin fans.
For the record he was changed up so much anyway from his comic book counterpart.

It's the fact that they marketed it like there was going to be this epic movie, with this 'Mandarin' fella, and we all assumed (bits and pieces from the lego sets etc) how it would end and how crazy it would be.

We got Trevor and Guy Pearce.

This movie should have been called:

Iron Man: The Guy with the Dragon Tattoo.
BlueDemon
BlueDemon - 5/14/2013, 7:47 PM
Pearce had very little to do with the billion it made. It was all RDJ, MARVEL and DISNEY

Hopefully Pearce and Shane Black will stay away from any important future comic book movies.Doc Savage doesn't count cause it's Doc Savage lol

Everyone complains about the Galactus cloud, but no one bothers to read what the actual plan was if it had continued. The writers intended to portray Galactus exactly as he is in the comics in the next installment. ROTSS was supposed to merely introduce the idea of Galactus and focus on Silver Surfer.

Though not convinced on the cloud approach, I think it was wise to introduce him in one film and then plan to really show him in the next.

@Thewonderer

I agree but they screwedye the pooch and should have show an eye or a hand of Galactus. That would have driven fans insane and pushed out a third movie.

Straight from the get-go as casting announcements and news of Black directing, I full on expected a Lethal Weapon/Kiss Kiss, Bang Bang movie, not a superhero movie. I, at the very beginning, knew that it would be set during Christmas, that we'd get a scene on the docks, and voice overs (A big part of all comics, something that is rarely done in cbm's, aka: Big yellow speech boxes). And that's exactly what I got. I was happy, it fulfilled what I expected and more. The twist didn't bother me.

Mandarin, in the beginning, wore a lucha mask and shot optic blasts from his fingers, later, he became an ancestral legend-mystical ring wielding-fu man chu-rocking badass, to a shirtless static-white pupils and all with blonde hair and what not to a generic Asian guy in a black suit in tie. [frick] it, even in the cartoon he was a goblin looking mother[frick]er with a hit on lime green in his skin tone.

I was never big into the Mandarin, neither were any of you. Iron Man wasn't popular until video gaming and then the idea of making a movie came about.

A good 70% of you (as well as me in some cases) gave 0 [frick]s about Iron Man until the movie came out and I definitely know you never heard of the Mandarin until mentions of the 10 rings in Iron Man (2008)as you hurried over to marvel.wiki to read a short synopsis of his story. Don't deny it. Hell, I hardly knew anything of Thor, never heard of The Destroyer or any of them really until news of the movie coming out (And that level in Ultimate Alliance).

I know the cool thing to do nowwa days is to join in with the rest of the 12 year olds that recently found out about cuss words and decided to bitch on the internetz cause they're too scared to say what they do here, in public, but please, don't moan about how you hated the twist, cause in reality, the majority of us have, don't and honestly, never will give a [frick] about the Mandarin. Sure, a respectful representation would be sweet, but it's nothing we'd lose sleep over. Cause come on now, as cool as seeing Tony go one on one with a boring villain, we all wanna see him flying around with Thor and Ms. Marvel as Hulk does the heavy lifting and Cap leads them all to the greater good against the Masters of Evil.

Anyways, I'm excited, I have actually been watching the M:I movies all week (As I type, I have Ghost Protocol playing on my TV) and I am craving for another. Color me intrigued. I'll be there opening day.

The reason using the Mandarin is to milk the fans for tons of cash. That's the sad truth unfortunately, Marvel don't care
