Well, it's finally official; Daniel Craig is going to return as James Bond for the currently untitled 25th instalment of the franchise. There have been conflicting reports for months about what's next for the franchise thanks to the constant doubt in regards to whether or not Craig would be willing to reprise the role of 007. Names like Tom Hiddleston and Tom Hardy have also been thrown around lately.

Well, during an appearance on The Late Show with Stephen Colbert, Craig was asked if he'll be back as James Bond and immediately answered in the affirmative. "I always wanted to, I wanted a break," the actor added about why it's taken a while (that's an understatement) for this news to be confirmed.

MGM has also made the news official - before you doubt Craig's word - with the following statement: "Daniel Craig will return as 007 in Bond 25. The actor confirmed he would play James Bond for the fifth time to host Stephen Colbert on The Late Show. Bond 25 will be released in US cinemas on November 8,
2019 with a traditional early release in the UK and the rest of the world."

Are you excited to see Craig make his return as 007? Let us know your thoughts in the usual place.

Glad he's returning. High hopes for his last performance as Bond. Want a proper showdown with Craig's 007 and Christoph Waltz's Blofeld. Spectre was lackluster, let's get this one closer to Casino Royale and Skyfall.

@MrMurdock - Spectre wasn't lackluster at all. The Mexico scene was damn good action set piece, and the series gave the main antagonist a proper introduction. If any and all, Waltz's Blofeld had been given much exposure than most Bond villains ever. Spectre isn't as great as From Russia With Love, or Goldeneye, or Skyfall, but it damn sure is one of the good ones, given the choices of how many bad ones there are in comparison.

Cool. It would've sucked if the poor man's The Winter Soldier (AKA Spectre) was his last round. I hope he goes out on a high note.

As much as we all know Craig's reluctancy to play Bond again based on previous interviews, his wanting to return is hopefully triggered by something exciting like perhaps a really great director (Christopher Nolan) being attached to Bond 25. Otherwise, I doubt he'd come back just to make another generic Bond film. Then again some article did say they were offering him a ridiculous amount of money.

@Alexandre - I doubt Christopher Nolan is attached to this. As much as I'd love to see him direct a Bond film, based on his previous comments regarding the franchise I'm sure he'd only sign on with complete creative control (i.e. fresh Bond, writing his own script etc.)

Even though actors need a break from time to time, like everybody else, his behavior regarding the role that literally made him, in one of the biggest franchises of all time, was really shitty. I've lost pretty much all respect I had for him.

"Can you imagine doing another Bond movie?
I’d rather break this glass and slash my wrists. No, not at the moment. Not at all. That’s fine. I’m over it at the moment. We’re done. All I want to do is move on.

You want to move on from Bond for good?
Who the [frick] knows? At the moment, we’ve done it. I’m not in discussion with anybody about anything. If I did another Bond movie, it would only be for the money.

Do you care who plays Bond after you?
Look, I don’t give a [frick]. Good luck to them!"

Interview with Time Out, 2015, just before the release of Spectre.

@Asturgis - Not the most professional comment by any means but I think Craig was just clearly exhausted from the process.

No, he shouldn't have said what he said. But at the same time I could imagine where he was coming from. Doing Bond films would be [frick]ing exhausting, the guy's pushing 50!

@MrMurdock - I completely agree with you on all counts. I'm sure he was completely beat, he even said so himself in the interview but he also said the shooting went well, and that he worshipped Sam Mendes, which would go against what some people say, that the shooting was a nightmare.

In any case, being tired, even pissed, is one thing, but venting during an interview is really unprofessional. And it wasn't the only time. He was paid millions to play an incredible role, I can't feel sorry for him. I really can't.

Yep. This makes me happy. As a long time Bond fan he has been by far the best Bond yet. Now, if they could only convince Michael Fassbender to take the role next...

He looks old as shit, but he's a very good Bond.

Hopefully, they do him better than they did in Spectre. That was awful.
