MISSION: IMPOSSIBLE - ROGUE NATION Continues to Dominate International Box Office

It may have lost the top box office spot to Straight Outta Compton, but internationally, Tom Cruise is still king as Mission: Impossible - Rogue Nation finished #1 for the 3rd week in a row!

After two solid weeks atop the North American box office, Paramount's Mission: Impossible - Rogue Nation finally had to cede its top spot to F. Gary Gray's critically acclaimed biopic Straight Outta Compton, which debuted to an impressive $56 million domestically and continued Universal's banner year. However, internationally, Tom Cruise & the IMF are still going strong as the Chris McQuarrie-directed action sequel finished #1 overseas for the third week in a row after pulling in a solid $46 million, which brought its worldwide total to approximately $373.4 million with major releases in Italy, Venezuela, Greece, and China still on the way.

Elsewhere, Fox's Fantastic Four managed to finish #2 internationally, collecting $16.2 million over the weekend and bringing its worldwide total to $102 million. This weekend's other major release, Guy Ritchie's The Man From U.N.C.L.E., took in an estimated $12 million, with an exceptional performance in Russia. A few of this summer other major releases, such as Jurassic World & Minions, also continued to perform well. Jurassic World took in about $8.9 million bringing its record-breaking worldwide total to over $1.6 billion and Minions took in about $15 million bringing its worldwide total to over $957 million.

With the IMF disbanded, and Ethan (Tom Cruise) out in the cold, the team now faces off against a network of highly skilled special agents, the Syndicate. These highly trained operatives are hellbent on creating a new world order through an escalating series of terrorist attacks. Ethan gathers his team and joins forces with disavowed British agent Ilsa Faust (Rebecca Ferguson), who may or may not be a member of this rogue nation, as the group faces their most impossible mission yet.

Mission: Impossible - Rogue Nation will feature:
Director: Christopher McQuarrie
Tom Cruise as Ethan Hunt
Jeremy Renner as William Brandt
Simon Pegg as Benji Dunn
Ving Rhames as Luther Stickell
Rebecca Ferguson as Ilsa Faust
Alec Baldwin as Alan Hunley
Sean Harris as Solomon Lane
Simon McBurney as Attlee
Zhang Jingchu as Lauren
Jens Hultén as Janik "Bone Doctor" Vinter
Tom Hollander as the Prime Minister
America Olivo as Turandot
Hermione Corfield as Record Shop Girl

Mission: Impossible - Rogue Nation has lit the fuse and is out everywhere NOW!

@FrozenDiamondZ In a normal year, yes, Disney would easily be number 1, but Universal is having a truly unbelievable year this year. Kudos to them!

I'll check this out, I enjoyed the last one. I went to see UNCLE this week instead because it interested me more. I feel like we know what we're going to get from Tom Cruise, and the franchise, and I felt like something different from the norm. UNCLE was pretty stylish, humorous, and some fun action. The standout for me was Armie's Russian character, I thought he played it pretty well (considering I've only seen him in the Lone Ranger, it was a big step up in his game).
I enjoyed the banter between characters very much. Definitely a Guy Ritchie film, yet toned down from his usual style

Universal may have killed it this year but I just peeped those pixar posters. Pixar are now going to start releasing two films a year it seems. Wow.

@FrozenDiamondZ I want to clarify that I mean in a normal year with this 2015 slate. Avengers, Inside Out, and Cinderella are all huge successes, but Universal has just unexpectedly knocked it out of the park.

Fox itself is having a pretty rough year compared to last. It shows since they're roughly at half of Disney's haul and a third of Universal's, at least domestically.

@FrozenDiamondZ @BlackStar25 - Disney is having a banner year as well, and they're not too far behind Universal. Disney's biggest release doesn't happen until December -- Star Wars: The Force Awakens could push them into the #1 spot for the year. In any case, both studios are just killing it this year.

Universal is basically done at this point, while Disney still has three major releases to go:

- Bridge of Spies (Tom Hanks, Steven Spielberg)
- The Good Dinosaur (Pixar)
- Star Wars: The Force Awakens

Man From Uncle was surprisingly good. Rogue Nation was an awesome MI film. Going to see COMPTON tonight. Trying to find me a Los Angeles Kings cap to go with my outfit. Its basically cosplay. Raiders and Kings gear for Compton, and Jedi robes for STAR WARS. If I cant get a Lando costume together.
