PIRATES OF THE CARIBBEAN 5 Delayed From Summer 2015 To Summer 2016
After Edgar Wright's Ant-Man was moved from its original November release date to just two weeks after Batman/Superman, have Disney decided that Summer 2015 is simply too crowded for the fifth Pirates of the Caribbean movie? Read on for details!
According to Deadline, Pirates of the Caribbean 5 (which is set to be directed by Kon-Tiki directing duo, Joachim Rønning and Espen Sandberg) will no longer be released in the summer of 2015. The reason? Well, it's likely that it has at least something to do with the commercial failure a couple of months back of The Lone Ranger; a movie which will result in a loss of close to $200 million for Disney. Apparently, the studio are now eyeing a release date at some point in the less crowded summer 2016, although The Hollywood Reporter claims that another possible reason for this release date shift is down to issues with the script. Tower Heist and Indiana Jones and the Kingdom of the Crystal Skull's Jeff Nathanson is currently working on a first draft.
