PIRATES OF THE CARIBBEAN: DEAD MEN TELL NO TALES Gets New Release Date
It's time to board the Black Pearl once again! Walt Disney Studios has announced the release date for Jack Sparrow's next adventure. The much anticipated fifth film in the billion dollar Pirates of the Caribbean franchise will set sail in approximately three years. Come check it out!
A few days after they announced the release dates for five upcoming Marvel movies, Walt Disney Studios has announced the release date for the next installment in another billion dollar franchise, the Johnny Depp-led Pirates of the Caribbean 5. The fifth film in the hugely successful franchise will be released July 7, 2017.
Last May, it was announced that Joachim Rønning and Espen Sandberg would direct the film and last August, the film's full title was revealed to be Pirates of the Caribbean: Dead Men Tell No Tales. Producer Jerry Bruckheimer and star Johnny Depp, who plays Jack Sparrow, are both set to return. Initially, Bruckheimer had hoped the film would be able to make it to summer 2016, but due to script issues and contract negotiations, it looks like 2017 was their best option.
Its release will be sandwiched between Despicable Me 3 (June 30) and Fantastic Four 2 (July 14). It joins a year that will also see Wolverine 3 (March 3), The Lego Movie 2 (May 26), and three yet-to-be announced Marvel films (May 5, July 28, November 3) hit theaters.
