Rob Marshall Will Likely Direct PIRATES OF THE CARIBBEAN 5

Rob Marshall Will Likely Direct PIRATES OF THE CARIBBEAN 5

Following the critical panning of On Stranger Tides and the lukewarm reception to the announcement of a fifth installment, Rob Marshall has indicated that he will return to direct the next movie. Hit the jump for the details.

Terry [Rossio] is writing it and he’s working incredibly hard and he did a draft and rethought it all and started working on it again. You want to make sure you are asking the audience to come back to see an exciting adventure and it has to reach that caliber, and if not there’s no reason to do it. I know Johnny feels the same way: He needs to see a script, but he would be happy — if it’s the right script — to put that hat and sword back on.

Even though I'm not a fan of the idea of a fifth installment, this is good news. The script is one of the most important parts of a movie and after the lacklustre past 3 Pirates movies, and basically every other major movie coming out right now, I'm glad to hear this.

Do you think Disney are serious about a fifth movie and are working hard to get it right? Or is it just another money grab? Sound off in the usual place.
