Sam Mendes Reportedly Locked In For JAMES BOND 24; Will Likely Return For 25 As Well

Following reports earlier this week that Sam Mendes will return for the 24th instalment in the James Bond franchise, it has now reportedly been confirmed that he will helm both the follow-up to Skyfall AND the movie after it. Read on for details!

According to Showbiz411, they have "confirmed" that Sam Mendes will indeed return to helm James Bond 24 after what they describe as "exhaustive negotiations" which will leave him, "a rich, rich man". The studio simply did not want to let him go after the massive success of Skyfall - the first instalment in the James Bond franchise to gross over $1 billion at the worldwide box office - and the director will apparently also return to helm the 25th movie as well (which will more than likely be Daniel Craig's last). Interestingly, the site also speculates about the return of Adele as singer of the next theme tune following her Academy Award winning tune for the last movie, but say that there has been no talk of that at this stage. How do you guys feel about this news?

That's unfortunate that new blood won't get a shot for at least 5 years but I liked Skyfall so it's not a bad thing for fans.

Bond is one of those rare franchises that really benefits from having new directors with a new vision behind each outing. Having said that, Sam Mendes did something special with Skyfall. I'm not ready to say it was better than Casino Royale, but Mendes really made a fantastic movie. And I'd be more than okay to see Mendes and Daniel Craig team up for the remainder of the Craig era of James Bond. Adele's song was good, but let's finally have a worthy Bond girl! We've yet to have someone surpass Eva Green in the Craig era, get it done.

I was expecting a new Director but Mendes did a good job with Skyfall. I do remember Martin Campbell directed both Goldeneye and Casino Royale.

I just want to see some BAD-ASS villains for Bond to go toe to toe with.

I also want to see many more new gadgets and spy material. Bond is a secret agent so lets see more secretive weaponry, firearms and gizmos.

Last but most certainly not least let's get a great whip for Bond! lol

(Then again I'd rather see the next Batman Franchise take after the look of this car but more armored and oh yeah... BLACK!!!)

Shame of that writers strike a couple of years ago, would've been great if we'd have Skyfall a little earlier, Craig is really getting old. Love his look way more in Casino Royale.

"Was I willing to go back into a room with a writer and start work on the same set of characters and the same scenarios as I’ve been working on for the last three years? The idea made me physically ill."
-Sam Mendes

I guess that check is making you feel better now, huh? Lmao!!!

Cumberbatch won't be another villain for a while.

He'll be typecast and he knows it.

Give Cumberbatch a good character role.

You Know My Name is the best Bond song of all time.

Skyfall is brilliant too though. Adele haters GTFO.

@Jollem - Yeah... they definitely got the short end of the stick in that era... But they're becoming more popular since The Avengers... Better late than never.

@thewonderer - Adele did an awesome job of the song, but the song itself was mediocre at best. She was the only thing that made it sound good.

I hope they're bridging 24 and 25 with Blofeld. He's the Moriarty to Bond's Holmes after all.

He's tough negotiator. Good news, though I hope he still has time to make other movies.
