Less than twenty-four hours after signing on to star in a live-action movie adaptation of Prophet, Academy Award-nominee Jake Gyllenhaal (Spider-Man: Far From Home; Nightcrawler) has found his next film, which will team him with director Guy Ritchie (Wrath of Man; The Gentlemen) and Miramax.
While he's signed on for a number of projects in recent months, this will be Gyllenhaal's next movie as it's slated to begin filming before the end of the year. No plot details are available, but it's said to be in the same vein as some of Ritchie's best work, so we can surely expect at least three things: his trademark visual style, some quick-witted dialogue, and probably plenty of extraordinary suits.
Following the release of Wrath of Man earlier this year, Ritchie recently wrapped another Jason Statham-actioner, the spy thriller Operation Fortune: Ruse de guerre, and is in various stages of development on a TV series based on The Gentlemen, Paramount's World War II pic The Ministry of Ungentlemanly Warfare, and Disney's Aladdin 2.
However, this new project with Gyllenhaal is presumably something that hasn't been officially announced yet, so we'll have to wait for more news in the coming weeks as additional cast members are confirmed.
Gyllenhaal has been an extremely busy man since appearing as Quentin Beck, a.k.a. Mysterio, in Marvel Studios/Sony Pictures' Spider-Man: Far From Home and has been working on a number of big projects over the past year, including Antoine Fuqua's The Guilty (now streaming on Netflix), Michael Bay's Ambulance (In theaters February 18), HBO's limited series The Son, the graphic novel adaptation Oblivion Song, and the aforementioned Prophet.
