When it was announced that Jeremy Renner would be starring in
The Bourne Legacy, the news was met with a very mixed reaction from fans. Many were pleased to see
The Hurt Locker and
THOR actor being given a starring role in what could potentially be the beginning of his own franchise, while the rest were livid that Matt Damon (Jason Bourne himself) had seemingly been replaced. Well, it seems like the actor had his own reservations about taking on the role.
"This offer wasn't about a movie, this was about a life choice. In Mission, it's a Tom Cruise movie. The Avengers is ensemble-y, but [Bourne] is a game changer," he said.
"I thought, 'This is going to affect how I walk down the street. It's going to affect what happens when I go into a restaurant.' I can't even believe I'm saying this, but is this going to affect the next 20 years of my life? As an artist, am I putting a nail in the coffin of my artistic sensibility?"
And if you didn't already think that the actor who will play fan favourite character Hawkeye in
The Avengers next year is in great enough demand, he went on to reveal that he landed a role in
Ghost Protocol just hours after turning down an offer from J.J. Abrams to appear in
Super 8.
"I went from turning down one movie to getting Mission: Impossible in three hours." Not bad, eh?
