Before the Disney/Fox merger took place, Legion showrunner Noah Hawley was working on an Alien TV series for FX. It appeared that had been put on the backburner as Disney made some decisions about what to do with the iconic franchise, but FX boss John Landgraf has now confirmed it remains in the works for the network.

The live-action series is officially on the way to FX, with Hawley serving as creator and showrunner. Alien director Sir Ridley Scott will be serving as an executive producer on the project too. No premiere date has been revealed, but that's not a huge surprise given the current state of the world!

Billed as the first Alien story set on Earth, it's said that we can expect a mix of the timeless horror of the 1979 original along with the epic action James Cameron brought to proceedings in Aliens.

Beyond that, we don't have any plot details for you right now, but more is likely to be shared soon. This series has been a long time coming, but at least we know it's actually on the way now!
