A very interesting new Obi-Wan Kenobi theory suggests that the Jedi Master left a lasting mark on Darth Vader that may answer a lingering question about Star Wars: Return of the Jedi. Check it out...

The Obi-Wan Kenobi finale was able to fill in a lot of plot holes from the original Star Wars trilogy and, in the process, built a much stronger bridge between those and the prequels. That's something we've seen praised by fans of this Galaxy Far, Far Away in recent days, but did the show also answer a question they've been asking for decades?

When Luke Skywalker unmasked his father, Darth Vader, in Return of the Jedi, we finally got to see Anakin Skywalker's face. Years later, George Lucas would reveal that the former Jedi had been burned alive after squaring off with Obi-Wan on Mustafar, but we never got an explanation for the gash across his head.

Obi-Wan Kenobi showed the Sith Lord "suiting up," and as far as we could see, there was no scar. However, a popular theory doing the rounds online this week (shared by SFFGazette.com) suggests that Ben might be responsible for that. While it's not immediately clear during the battle itself, that wound was likely caused when the Jedi Master slashed open Vader's helmet with his lightsaber.

There are those who believe the scar was already there and only worsened by this fight, but whatever the case is, it's a cool detail and one that we can definitely say resolves this big question.

The lightsaber duel has been widely hailed as being among the Star Wars franchise's best, and things got seriously intense between Ben and Vader. When the latter's face was exposed, it led to an emotional, horrifying exchange that has also generated a great deal of discussion online among fans (was Anakin absolving Obi-Wan of blame or taunting him?).

Make sure to let us know your thoughts on this Obi-Wan Kenobi theory in the comments section.

So [frick]ing dumb. This show ripped off it's own self.

Lucas film is creatively bankrupt.

Pure trash with this series🥲

I'm pretty sure all the major wounds were visible at the end of Revenge Of The Sith

@dracula - this is just some way of creating a worse theory than jar jar was meant to be a sith lord.

Why does everything need an explanation…

@GhostDog - Because otherwise people will bicker or nitpick online to no end that there’s “plot holes.” Happens every time with movies and shows based on popular IP’s.

@BobbyW - although dont think anyone questioned where he got that, people probably figured he got in on mustafar and yeah its visible there

@AnthonyVonGeek - I know the next thing I'm gonna say is very controversial, but I'm gonna say it anyway:

Reva is a better character than either Ben Solo or Rey. Not Skywalker material, but she was better in my opinion.

@bkmeijer1 - I think Reva is a good enough idea, she was just poorly executed. If she was to be included in Obi-Wan Kenobi at all, she should have been introduced in season 2. Season 1 should have been solely about Anakin and Obi-Wan, because they had all the material in the world to build up their rivalry and that's what we wanted to focus on. Every Reva scene should have been Vader. Then once Vader and Obi-Wan have their battle, season 2 should have been Vader using a different tactic by using Revas story to take down Obi-Wan. Revas origin story and conflicted alliances should have been the focus of a season 2, giving her all the time she needs to develop her character and fans wouldn't have felt cheated because we got our Obi-Wan vs Vader rocks off during season 1. Vader using Reva and the fallen Jedi against Obi-Wan would have been a brilliant season 2 arc to focus on and given each plot thread time to breathe.

So I agree, the idea of Reva isn't a bad one, Disney just is clueless about giving fans what we want, and just do whatever they want.

@UGLYsonic - I'm not sure if a show just focused on them could've worked. A movie definitely did though.

As for the show though, I think Reva worked quite well in the role she had. Her actions got Kenobi and Leia together, and later Kenobi and Vader. And Vader knew about her plans, so he was sorta active in the plot too (not just the juggernaut that shows up in the end to clean up the mess, like in Rebels or Fallen Order).

And I actually an Inquisitor to be the villain, with Vader in close pursuit. Although the execution didn't work at all times (but that's not new to Star Wars anyway), this show gave me exactly what I wanted from it.

@bkmeijer1 - Ben, yes. Rey, not so much.

Rey, I thought, was one of the better facets of that ‘trilogy,’ in no small part due to Ridley’s herculean efforts to raise the tripe she was given to work with.

@bkmeijer1 - I've always thought she'd be an infinitely more interesting character revisited down the line, like say around the time of Mando or later. In the series she was mostly, understandably, a hot mess.

@SauronthePower - both Driver and Ridley did amazing jobs with what they were given on paper. Would even argue that goes for Boyega too.

Character-wise though, I still think Reva is better than Rey. For example, the former's ideals and flaws were much clearer in my opinion.

@bkmeijer1 - I agree for the most part on Reva vs. Rey. Not as sold on Driver, who has historically been great in other roles but had zero charisma or chemistry here

@SauronthePower - that I can agree with. Even though his character was the most interesting on paper in my opinion, I think part of why he wasn't as compelling was because of direction.
