This animated series follows the adventures of the infamous Marvel Comics superhero team the Avengers - primarily consisting of Iron Man, Thor, Captain America, the Hulk, Ant Man, the Wasp, Hawkeye, and the Black Panther - as they team up to save the world from dangers far too great for one superhero to handle alone. After the breakout of 74 supervillains from four major prisons throughout the nation (the Big House, the Cube, the Raft, and the Vault), the Avengers are currently working on rounding up all of the escaped supervillains and putting them back in the prison they escaped from. The Avengers frequently receive assistance on missions from S.H.I.E.L.D., a secret espionage and law-enforcement agency run by Nick Fury (while the agency isn't trying to trick and use the Avengers).

you know they could do something like the breakout in the film. Maybe as a minor plot point at the end and it opens it up for sequels

This is my new favorite animated series. You have to love all the Easter eggs that are in each episode. I'm too lazy but can someone make an article of all the references to the comic events such as Civil War and Secret Invasion. Do it!

This show is the best thing on TV right now. It does a really nice job of blending in some of the newer storylines and characterizations with the classics that got me hooked on comics back in the '80s. Kang has always been one of my favorite villains, and I really enjoyed his first appearance last week. I'm really looking forward to the rematch on Sunday.

ComicCritic87: I think you're right- Tony should be thinking "WHEN are you?" trying to find Kang. Nice call. Kang's mastery of time travel is one of the things that makes him such an interesting villain.

This is a great show that really focuses on the Marvel History and brings it to life fpor the next generation of marvel fans coming up my 11 year old is really starting to get into comics mainly because of this show, where as Young justice has just confused him as to who is who, Dick Grayson , but wearing Tim Drakes Costume, Wally West as kid Flash and Barry Allen as the Flash, which was funny cause he was like who is Barry Allen, He watches the JLU , I have the series on DVD and he knows them all , except now he has no clue with Young Justice, which as a long time fan annoys me also.

Best cartoon out there.

Kang is great.

Looks like this is a 3 parter since according to Wikipedia the next 2 episodes(episode 18 & 19)are called "Come the Conqueror" and "The Kang Dynasty."

I love that they are building up to the Kree-Skrull War.

I expect an epic multi-part storyline for this to end the season.

Maybe Episodes 23-26.

Can't wait for Ultron as well.

And we haven't seen Loki, the Enchantress, or Zemo lately.

Plus we've got the Cosmic Cube going on.

And what about the Black Widow/Strucker/HYDRA subplot?

This show is so multi-layered, its just like the comics in that sense.

Does anyone expect a cliffhanger to end the season?

Maybe the Kree-Skrull War starts at the end and finishes up to start season 2.

The dead Skrull was cool. Totally a nod to Secret Invasion. Then in one of the first episodes the showed James Howlett as a Howling Commando. I really love all of the nods and easter eggs. I can't wait for Carol to return as Ms. Marvel! I don't think I've seen any nod to Civil War. I agree with @StevilNYC, someone should do an artical with all of the easter eggs.
