Great review! I still don't have a bluray player but when I get one this will be one of my first purchases.

I hope by the time I get one the Extended versions of the trilogy will be out.

I have both this and Return of the King on my queue on Netflix. If they're better than I remember them, I buy 'em!

Just a little suggested constructive criticism:

Perhaps getting a notepad and writing down some talking points before rolling film would enhance your review.

I have to agree that this was a bad review. Sorry guys but it was obvious that either A) yall had never seen it before and did not pay too much attention or B)have not seen it in a very long time and did not pay too much attention. Noting that lines in this were very similar or the same as lines from the LotR trilogy? Uh well ya. They happen to be based on the same source material.

Something I would have mentioned is that the scene in the live action Fellowship were the Nazgul attack the hobbit's beds at the Prancing Pony is almost an exact remake of the scene from this animated flic. Enough so that I would not be surpirsed if the animated film was used to story board the live action. Which again only makes since considering the common source.

I saw this LotR animated movie long before I knew frick about Tolkien (circa 1992). At the time it was so amazing but such a let down at the same time because the story ended with Helm's Deep. I remember the most impressive thing was the half completed rotoscoping that made some scenes so badass. It may not have been done on purpose but it added a really cool element that I did not see repeated until Waking Life or A Scanner Darkly. It was years later that I found the Hobbit and Return of the King animated flics (circa 1996) and once again years later before I finaly read Tolkien's Hobbit and LotR (circa 1999) in college.

One thing I will agree with is that this film, the animated Hobbit and Return of the King are great ways to introduce one's children to the fantastic world of Middle Earth. I wish my parents had done that rather than having to "discover" it on my own.

I didn't think it was a bad review at all. I see the points made, but the point was still made that it was good that the movie is now on an easier accessible medium, that it's good for introducing your kids, touching on how they used a lot of dialogue in the live action, etc... Maybe it's all over the place when they are making points, but that's just how it is on Youtube. Youtube video journals that I've seen are just like that.

I might be missing the negativity, but I haven't seen this movie in a very long time and it made me want to go see it again.

@lee Talk my wife into another console. We have a 360 and a Wii already! The only game I play regularly is MW2 anyways. However, I haven't played any Metal Gear Solid since the 2nd one.. that would be fun.

@xmutantx Agreed.

try and do something a little lax and someone busts your chops over it, try and go analytical and someone cries that your a spoiler. Conclusion: you cant please everyone. Enjoy, guys and thanks for watching. We will say the catch phrase next time :P

Wait a minute, there's a Return Of The King animated movie?? I thought Bakshi never finished it? ..Anyway, good stuff lads, I loved this as a kid and still do. Its actually more faithful to the book that Jackson's movies in some senses.

Hey, I know criticism is tough, but I only say it because I think you are the anchor to Johnny Love's speedboat. You keep him from drifting off into uncharted waters.
Who in their right mind would criticize anyone for being to analytical regarding a review??? That is precisely what you are doing. Don't listen to fools, dude.

Thank you LEE!

PS3 is a much better deal than buying a $150 machine that does one thing

PS3 does everything. Haven't you seen the commercials?

If I didn't have a 360 then a PS3 would have more worth to me. I'm not going to get a whole system for just one or two games I want to play that I can't already on the 360 when I could just have the bluray player by itself and stick to gaming/other entertainment on what I've already got.
