I have the graphic novel if this and it was mostly great - However, I HATE how it ended though with Batman slicing Jason's throat with a Batarang to stop him killing Joker and I especially HATE how they've now turned the character into a psychotic villain!

Thats why I dont like DC! Look at what Marvel have done with the return of Bucky and then look at what a wasted oppurtunity Jason Todd's return was in comparison! ;(

its funny because up until then, everyone said that two characters in comics that would NEVER be resurrected were jason todd and bucky barnes. and then in the same year they both got resurrected, LOLOLOL.

anyway, i hope they show the death of robin at some point during this. but who knows, robin's death was pretty damn brutal, especially for its time.

i agree, bucky worked, todd, not so much. i just thought it was funny that those two characters were always reserved as characters that would never be resurrected, and then they both were at damn near the same time. they were like the last line of defense for defenders of the revolving door of death argument, lol.

@ anil

i think you're right, they would water down robin's death, even though he was beaten with a crowbar (still brutal mind you). they would HAVE to water down barbara getting shot. there's no way they would be able to show her being raped and tortured with Gordon watching in the other room!

I'd rather see "A death in the family" if anything about Jason Todd. I wouldn't mind seeing a Justice Society animated movie, or Justice League: New world order with the white Martians. Maybe even a Legion of Superheroes or a villain centric movie ala Joker or Lex Luthor: Man of Steel. If they keep doing Bats and Supes, it's going to get old. They shouldn't have effed up the Death of Superman. They could have gotten three or four movies out of that easy, not to mention spin-offs.

thats funny, morrison is known for his drug use, lololol. he even admits it. everything he touches gets a pretty unique and distinct feel to it. you should check out Transmetropolitan by morrison. now that is some trippy shit! but good. he's just better served on things unrelated to super heroes. although i'll admit, what i've read of batman and robin is pretty cool. it still doesn't feel like your typical batman stories, but he's put the "fun" back in!

@ morte

yeah, blackest night is supposed to help put a stop to the revolving door of death in DC. and i wanted shake quesada's hand when he took over as EIC at marvel and said DEAD means DEAD. too bad it didn't stick, lol. people have been constantly dying n marvel and being resurrected, especially the past 4 or 5 years!

@ tobuttica

i agree about death of superman! the first one should have jsut been the fight with doomsday. the 2nd could have been the arrival of the 4 replacement seupermen. the 3rd could have been the return of the real supes. that could have been very cool!

i know what you mean, its just irritating to know that anytime a character dies, they'll be back. it doesn't matter how meaningful a character's death is, it loses its impact knowing that. look at Cap. it was such a big deal when he died, but no one really gave a damn because they knew he'd be back.

and personally i hate Cap's resurrection story. they took such a good, realistic death, probably the most well handled character death in all of comics history. when cap died, i thought it was the best possible way they could have done it. no explosions with a missing body, no disintegration ray, or clones, or anything hokey. just blam blam blam! through the chest! but when you do a death like that, you write yourself into a corner, and then you HAVE to pull some BS out of your ass to bring the character back.

but they basically ruined it by pulling this "magic bullet" nonsense. they might as well just said it was a clone or LMD that died. the magic bullet/gun is no better. it just cheapened his death so much to me.

and its funny, because ed brubaker's original plan was to have cap come back like 5 issues later, lol.

@ clinteastwood

the return of jason todd. jason todd was the second robin that was killed by the joker.

yeah, i think steve should've stayed dead, then bucky could have ended up leading everyone to victory against stormin' norman. therefore gaining all the heroes respect as the real deal. then he could have become the new Cap. but oh well, its comics and they always have to bring people back...blah blah blah :)
