The Idiocy Of Cancelling YOUNG JUSTICE

The Idiocy Of Cancelling YOUNG JUSTICE

Warner Brothers is really getting on my nerves, and now cancelling great shows to make way for mediocre ones. Now they are no better than Disney/Marvel. Read on for my thoughts on the matter.

To start off, I love DC comics, I think they are putting out some of the greatest comic books nowadays. unfortunately the studio heads over at Warner Brothers are freakin idiots. They have no Idea what they are doing. Yes, Cancelling Young Justice and GL:TAS to make room for a Batman show and another Teen Titans show is more profitable, but they forget that its just plain idiotic.

First off, and I know I am gonna get a lot of hate for this, but I did not like Teen Titans. The fact that they had to do an anime style show just to get young people to like it means they had no faith in it to begin with. The show is just as bad as Ultimate Spider-Man in that aspect. It goes through all the pit falls that show goes through, changing continuity and characters stupid childish jokes that are unfunny, and random gas that do not belong in an American show. We get upset when they take an anime and americanize it, but everyone jumps for joy when they take American shows and make it Anime. Why?

The fact that they are bringing Teen Titans back in chibi form is even worse. It means they are going to use more annoying anime tropes and push this "Kawaii Desu Robin Chan" bullshit. It is basically going to become a show for the weeaboo/otaku crowd, which is stupid. Now, if they were to leave Young Justice and GL:TAS on and put out these new shows, OK I would be fine with it, but no, i guess the Schedule doesn't allow for more than 2 DC cartoons at a time. The shorts for the "Teen Titans Go" were good as they were, and should be good enough for kids now and those nostalgic for the original.

Young Justice has been a great show so far, and has really been on the level of B:TAS and The Justice League and JLU shows. They would probably fit into that continuity if Wally West wasn't the Flash. They even set it up for a great Flash Cartoon with the episode that showcased the Flash Family.

Now, onto Beware the Batman. Am I the only one who is sick and tired of Batman animated shows. There isn't much else you can do with the character. The perfect animated series was the one from the 90's and every iteration since has tried to copy it or go in a completely different direction. I hated "The Batman" The designs were crappy and it wasn't fun. I never really watched Brave and the Bold and I don't much care too. And now we are going to have two shows with crappy character designs. As much as I love CGI animate films, animated shows in that style always look crappy or like outdated video game graphics. This show seems to be no different.

There are plenty of other DC properties that can be made into TV shows guys. Take a [frick]ing risk. I know that you are so tight on cash WB, it's not like you make millions of dollars with every movie you make /sarcasm.

Warner Brothers! Do you want to know why only your Batman movies are making money? Why only Nolan can get money for you guys? You have put yourself in a position to where people think Batman is the only DC character that actually matters. That and that Teams only matter. It is stupid guys. If you branch out, and take chances you will get far. Yes GL failed, but that's because it sucked, but also because no one knows who the [frick] he is because you near put him in the public's eye other than the JL cartoon, and it wasn't even the same GL. Please WB learn how to handle comic book franchise adaptations.

I'd totally agree with this article if ya had avoided completely throwing Green Lantern under the bus. Plus it brings up a minor contradiction...

You ask Warner Brothers to take a risk? You get Green Lantern. Some people loved it, some didn't. I loved it and will miss it more than Young Justice.

What we can agree on though for sure this; I am not, nor ever was a fan of Teen Titans in any incarnation. Beware the Batman looks absolutely terrible in my eyes.

Sorry LEVITIKUZ, I usually reserve judgements, but I can be a purist, and I don't need or want a kickass, gun-totting Alfred to be "cool and new." There are some things that, in my opinion, come off as pointless character alterations and I don't understand who they are for.

If the Cartoon Network is supposed to be marketing to kids, adding guns to an otherwise peaceful supportive character shows just another awful creative decision on the parts of WB and CN.

Yes, I remember after Aurora, WB released a press release that they were retooling the show a bit, and they better.

Finally though, people ARE allowed to make initial opinions on what they've seen and heard about a project. What I've seen and heard does not get me excited.

WB is making really poor decisions lately and this is by far the dumbest in along time. i look forward each week to a (20 min) young justice episode to fill the void of dc related characters. the only other real show is arrow and even that is a dissappointment sometimes but young justice is the strongest animation since justice league animated series.

It is rather plain that you have no real concept of marketing. Your hatred of Teen Titans was unexpected, but that only adds to this.

The Teen Titans cartoon put the team on the map across the globe. Those who had never read the comics actually know who Cyborg is now.

LEVITIKUZ brought up that wonderful point that the target audience didn't like the show enough to commit to watching it when it was on. Clearly the writing is on the wall.

You may want to reconsider posting a kneejerk article, because wow, they REEEEAAAALLLY come across as juvenile. You might as well just hold a camera up to your face and start crying for YouTube.

Now I'm not excited about the new Batman show, mainly because I'm *tired* of the character, and I'm quite confident that any "new" exploration will not be in the direction I want it to be. But they could surprise me.

From the looks of some of the ratings I saw for YJ and GL, they were higher than eveything CN had except for Adventure Time and some other cartoon. So I dont think that was the case when show with lower ratings still are in the rotation.

From the cancellation of some the beloved YJ and surprisingly great GL show, CN has lost alot of fans and most are just fed up with it.

My inner child is devestated. These shows will be sorely, sorely missed. They didn't have near long enough a run as they should have. I don't think that the execs are canceling these shows due to their quality (they couldn't, these shows are tremendous), i think they aren't targeting the right markets/age groups WB is looking for. It sucks but that's the business of it. I'll have to keep them on my dvr now so I can still enjoy them. But dang I'm gonna miss seeing what storylines GL:TAS could've brought us

Young Justice was a great show, I'm actually sad that it has been canceled.

Young Justice seriously feels like a DCAU show that tries to keep itself teen titans esque. The could have told the same story but with the adult heroes. The crazu potential the show had really was high and it's not like they couldn't reach it. That's what sucks. They tried and it was working so damn well.

Now Batman? Brave and the Bold was good. If you didn't watch, it, that's fine but the folk who did liked it. It had some serious heart. I think it's the only animated series to tackle the Joe Chill thing and they did it very well. Most importantly it cared about the DC universe. This was a show I could show to the kids and adults were left out to dry. It disguised itself as seeming very kiddy when in reality it was much deeper.

I think a DC universe show offers the best chances at storytelling.

Teen Titans....when they were serious it really worked. Overall though I agree. I want a legit Teen Titans. Of course Young Justice was pretty much that.

First off I'd like to point out that the time skip was kind of jarring (kind of when i stopped watching) and much rather preferred the characters growing into that phase. But that said, the show should not have been canceled. It was a prime example of grade A animation and storytelling that didn't need dumbing down. And now like Spectacular Spider Man and Avengers EMH, another underrated show fades away despite various protests.

Who even thought Teen Titans Go sounds like a good idea? It will last one season. Nevermind little bitty kids will watch the re runs repeatedly so it may get two seasons

I think the reason they canceled these shows are toys sales. Cartoons are simply 30 minute commercials for their respective toy lines. Being that Young Justice figures really didn't sell well and they never made a GL Animated line, the head honchos are removing these shows and replacing them with shows they can merchandize the hell out of.

I don't understand why they always cancel any show that has a plot for older viewers, no there will be nothing for older fans to watch that has any decent plot structure or character development. Just crappy...

The animation is enough for me to not give it support ratings-wise, but the concepts and changes are enough to not even stream online for free. Thanks, but no. I dont even like DC as a whole but YJ has been pretty solid for a show about a bunch of kids (ugh).

I said it once and I'll say it again, "BOYCOTT CARTOON NETWORK". Get a petition going or tell me how to do it. And I'm not talking about one of those lame "Facebook, like if you..." Garbage petitions. Cartoon Network makes millions, if not billions off of the consumers. We should have a say in what we watch and stop being force fed all of this recycled Japanese crap.

Loved YJ and GL. can't go back to Teen Titans after YJ. Too many Batman cartoons. They get boring. YJ was the closest thing to JLU which I loved. Why cancel such great shows. Why did Marvel cancel Avengers EMH? Why did SyFy cancel Alphas? WTF is happening?
Battabing
Battabing - 1/28/2013, 9:22 PM
It's really just Cartoon Network. Their policy is that cartoons are for selling toys. If the toys don't sell, cancel the show. See, they're under the impression that children still play with toys. Sorry, CN, kids don't play with toys; they play with smart phones and iPads. If you pay attention to the content on channels like CN and Disney XD, they're moving away from Saturday morning cartoons and instituting more reality based shows.

The thing DC can do is get the hell off CN. It's about to go down in flames. Not only is GL and YJ gone, but Star Wars: CW is also out. CN intentionally derailed those shows, because it doesn't make a lot of sense to cancel a Top 5 show like YJ. The show didn't move toys so it had to go. I expect Beware the Batman will last for 2 seasons of 26 episodes each. Teen Titans Go won't last very long, either.

CN and Disney are children stations so the shows are geared for children, like the ultimate Spider-Man. kids love that show but didn't like EMH so it got canceled. probably the same for Young Justice and Green Lantern.
