ROSA from Jesús Orellana on Vimeo.

Synopsis:Rosa is “an epic sci-fi short film that takes place in a post-apocalyptic world where all natural life has disappeared. From the destruction awakes Rosa, a cyborg deployed from the Kernel project, mankind’s last attempt to restore the earth’s ecosystem. Rosa will soon learn that she is not the only entity that has awakened and must fight for her survival.

This short film is super hot right now in Hollywood. Borys Kit of THR reports that Spanish comic book artist Jesus Orellana taught himself the animation program and made the short film with literally no budget! The short has been at several festivals including the Seattle International Film Festival, then SITGES, Screamfest, Toronto After Dark, and many others, all to rave reviews.

Orellana is signed to IAM Entertainment, and is currently fielding interest from all the top Hollywood agencies, several producers, and a couple of studios. Orellana's goal however, is to turn Rosa into a live-action feature. I say, the animation looks sick and it should stay exactly as is. Sound off with your comments in the usual spot below.

ROSA is an epic sci-fi short film that takes place in a post-apocalyptic world where all natural life has disappeared. From the destruction awakes Rosa, a cyborg deployed from the Kernel project, mankind’s last attempt to restore the earth’s ecosystem. Rosa will soon learn that she is not the only entity that has awakened and must fight for her survival. The short-film was created entirely by young comic-artist Jesús Orellana with no budget during a single year. Since it's world premiere at the Seattle International Film Festival, ROSA has been an official selection at film festivals around the world such as Screamfest, Toronto After Dark, Anima Mundi or Los Angeles Shorts Film Festival. In October ROSA was screened at the opening night of the Sitges International Film Festival, considered the world's best festival specialized in genre films. Following the succesful festival run, the short film has attracted the attention of the major talent-agencies and Hollywood producers. Currently ROSA is in development to be a live-action motion picture.

Outstanding!! If JLA must be Mo-Cap, this man should be doing it. I can't imagine the hours he must have put into those 9 minutes. Amazing.

this very cool, but is it any better than many of the short movies in videogames? maybe a little, it left me wanting to see more. I'd like to see more COmic book movies look like this.

This is a good short film if it serves as a teaser for something bigger. The animation is awesome (with a little budget, I'm sure it will be better) and the visuals are overall pretty awesome. But the story was definitely lacking and needed to be fleshed out. Just watching a nine minute action sequence isn't really my thing. Hopefully they get some good writing on the movie, and i'll definitely be interested.

Nicely rendered, but difficult to make out what I was looking at a lot of the time - also didn't understand or care why the characters were fighting and a result found it pretty boring and lost interest.

Make us care.

I love it! And as you said, it should remain animated. Live-action, if you ask me, would just ruin the flavor of it. Some things are better left how they originally started and this is one of them.

Agreed that the story is lacking but the guy made this himself, with no budget. It's basically one big, long impressive commercial but I love it nonetheless!

good find...i agree that it should stay a 3d film. If it gets to hollywood the short film idea would be ruined!!

That was great. And it never ceases to amaze me how stupid some of you on this site are....lol

Any of you try to interpret the film that was suppose to be a 9 minute showreel? When stuntmen are trying to display there talents to the industry, should they have 5 mins of dialogue tossed in there? Just to please some of morons who spend every day of your pretending to be intelligent?

Can anyone say this is similar to the orgininal short film 9 before they made a motion film of that. but other wise the animation is not bad!

Have to agree with ThaMessenger07 but maybe not in such harsh words. This was intended to get the director noticed and that's precisely what it did. This guy is a super hot property right now in Hollywood.
