According to Variety, Nate Parker (who recently starred in Red Tails and previously appeared in The Great Debaters) is in negotiations for a role in Spike Lee's planned remake of the South Korean film Oldboy, which is also based on a manga. Parker recently worked with Lee on Red Hook Summer, which is now in theaters. Josh Brolin (Men In Black 3), Elizabeth Olsen (Silent House), Sharlto Copley (The A-Team) and Samuel L. Jackson (Marvel's The Avengers) are all set to appear in the remake, which will begin production soon.

If discussions go well, the actor will play "a doctor who works with Olsen." The story follows a man (Brolin) who is kidnapped and imprisoned for over a decade for unknown reasons. Roy Lee and Doug Davison are producing with Good Universe prexy Nathan Kahane, while Mark Protosevich (who wrote the script) will co-produce.

Oldboy currently doesn't have a release date, though a 2013 release is possible.
