DETECTIVE PIKACHU: See How Many Pokemon You Can Catch (Sight Of) In Nearly 40 Hi-Res Trailer Screenshots

Video game movies have an understandably poor track record so it's no wonder the news that a Detective Pikachu movie was in the works was met mostly with ridicule. Well, since then, the teaser trailer left everyone impressed, and with just over a couple of months to go until the movie hits theaters, another full-length sneak peek was released earlier today.

As well as shedding more light on what we should expect from the first live-action Pokemon movie, we got to see plenty of the iconic creatures from both the animated TV series and video games make their presence felt in a big way.

Then, there was that appearance from Mewtwo; an iconic Pokemon who first grabbed our attention in the animated movie that was released back in 1998 (yes, it's really been that long).

You can find all the biggest moments and Pokemon cameos in these hi-res trailer screenshots. We'll take a closer look at the footage tomorrow to delve into the most noteworthy reveals but to check out these images, all you guys have to do is hit the "View List" button below for the full gallery.

I actually like everything I've seen from this movie... it's just Deadpool voicing Pikachu that doesn't work for me. At all. Genuinely not sure I can watch this.

So has the concept of a pokeball been completely abandoned?
Spidey91
Spidey91 - 2/26/2019, 2:31 PM
@Stinkor1 - the Cubone in the trailer came out of one, so I'd say no. but this is based on the Detective Pikachu spin-off rather than the main line games so I don't know if this particlar city/setting is different in that regard from the other towns in the series.
also, the lack of on-screen Pokemon in the games probably comes from hardware limitations rather than world-building, makes sense to have several of these things running around alongside humans, specially if they are someone's main Pokemon companion.

@Stinkor1 - That's hard to imagine just from the potential Pokeball toy sales alone.

@Spidey91 - I just want the Pokemon world to resemble the world from the anime in to the movie with characters like nurse joy officer Jenny team rocket and pokeball poke-deck and veridian city

@Spidey91 - From what I got from playing the Detective Pikachu game thus far it's kind of self contained (save the Red's/Ash's Pikachu cameo) and takes place in a new city where people and Pokemon live and work together. It's actually kind of cool how they built the games world around it. So far the movie seems true to the game for the most part.

Now I just want to see Grimer!

this one caught my attention, but I had to look it up because I didn't know him. it's called Golurk, and it's a ground/ghost type Pokemon. basically a possessed stone gollem, that's a pretty cool concept.

@Spidey91 - Golurk is awesome, didn't see them initially, or the Arcanines, my eye always went to the Growlithes.

As a HUGE Pokemon geek, I'm very much looking forward to this film.
