Edgar Wright No Longer Credited For ANT-MAN Screenplay

As expected, Edgar Wright (Shaun of the Dead) has not received a screenplay credit for the Peyton Reed helmed Ant-Man, but has however been credited in two other ways. You can find out about that and who is now responsible for the movie's screenplay after the jump...

Disney's press release for the new Ant-Man teaser trailer reveals that the official "screenplay by" credit for the movie goes to Adam McKay and Paul Rudd. We found out last year that the duo had worked together on a rewrite for six weeks, adding a "giant action sequence" and making Ant-Man "a little bigger, a little more aggressive, and funnier in places." It's clear now that this was a full rewrite rather than small alterations, a scenario which isn't all that different to when Joss Whedon rewrote Zak Penn's screenplay for The Avengers. Just like Penn, Wright (and Joe Cornish) will receive a "story by" credit, with Wright also named as an executive producer. That title is largely meaningless of course as Stan Lee receives the same credit on the Marvel movies but has zero involvement in them. What do you guys think about these behind the scenes changes to Ant-Man?

I wonder if since lang has a science background if he'll toy with the suit and as the end credit scene, we see him grow s few stories. Maybe Pym will just mentioned the giant aspect as a failed experiment that he could never get right

"adding more humor in places"

This is the thing about Marvel that annoys me. It seems they like to add humor just to put it there rather than it adding or having actual purpose in most cases

Welp, I think it's nice of Marvel to give him credit at all. They could have went full asshole and gave him nothing.

I have a feeling that people are gonna overreact to the "add more humor" bit. Oh boy, time to get out the Jack Daniels and see how this thread goes...

The level of salt if Edgar Wright was chosen for the director of the Flash. I want it just to see the salt levels.

He's lucky he got credit at all how many years was he given on this film, I'm surprised Fiege didn't sparta kick him out the window for the time it took him, that guy got some patients.

Teaser was great, still excited for this film.

This is going to be a father/daughter film for sure. One father trying to regain his daughter's faith in him, and another father trying to fulfill the faith his daughter places in him. As a father I am very excited.

At this point, I'm just hoping for the best with this movie. I'll be happy if it's at least entertaining. Am I expecting TWS, TDK, or even Avengers level of quality? No, but I at least hope it's decent. Then again, I'd be even more happy if it is that level of quality, but I'm not expecting that at this point.

I hope to see Wright make more movies in the future; likewise I REALLY hope this movie turns out to be good.
