Despite rumors that the Anchorman 2: The Legend Continues actor was demanding more money for the role, sources of The Hollywood Reporter reveal that "Paul Rudd is the frontrunner to play Henry Pym" in Marvel's upcoming Ant-Man adaptation. The trade magazine also notes that there's "a push to find Pym's 30-ish girlfriend," who's likely to be Janet Van Dyne aka The Wasp. There were previous reports that said Parks and Recreation actress Rashida Jones was vying for that role in the Edgar Wright-directed film, but there's been no further indication of it coming to fruition.
With Paul Rudd now likely to nab the lead Ant-Man role, this means Marvel ultimately passed on Joseph Gordon-Levitt, whose name has been (actively) linked to several upcoming comic book adaptations. Anyhow, Edgar Wright directs Ant-Man into theaters worldwide on July 31, 2015.
