Jason Momoa Excited To Set The Tone For AQUAMAN; Describes The Film As A "Coming Of Age" Tale
With production on Aquaman expected to begin within the next month or so, Jason Momoa recently sat down for a profile where he shared new details on the Atlantean King's first full-length feature!
"It’s an awesome role."
After a brief cameo in Zack Snyder's critically reviled Batman v Superman: Dawn of Justice early last year, Jason Momoa (Game of Thrones) is all set for a much bigger role in this fall's ultimate follow-up, Justice League, before he embarks on his own solo adventure in James Wan's Aquaman next year.
The Hawaiian actor recently sat down with GQ Magazine for a lengthy profile where he chatted about his biggest passions, including his family, rock climbing, motorcycles, hunting, and of course, the superhero movie he's gearing up to shoot in less than one month's time, Aquaman, which will be the first big screen solo outing for the DC icon.
Momoa was careful not to spoil any critical plot points but did express his excitement at being given an unique opportunity to establish his own tone for the Atlantean King. "We’ve never really seen anything from this guy before, so it’s fun to have a level playing field. There aren’t like four Aquamans before me. I get to set the tone for it.” He continued on to divulge a bit more on his version of Arthur Curry as he shared character details that revealed more about Curry's backstory. "The guy was never really accepted on land, and he was never really accepted in Atlantis. He’s a half-breed. But he’s the best of both worlds. He just doesn’t know how to handle his powers. So it’s kind of a coming of age for a young man to a man, or a man to a king. He’s lost a lot of things and he’s got to cope. He’s an outsider."
