Anthony Mackie Says CAPTAIN AMERICA: CIVIL WAR Is "Not At All" Another AVENGERS Movie

Though he was one of the first to dub Captain America: Civil War, Avengers 3.8, The Falcon actor Anthony Mackie now assures that the Phase 3 movie certainly centers on Chris Evans' Sentinel of Liberty.

When Anthony Mackie spoke with MTV at the big Hollywood premiere of Avengers: Age of Ultron, in which he makes a brief appearance, the Captain America: The Winter Soldier actor had briefly discussed his return as Sam Wilson aka the Falcon in next year's Captain America: Civil War.

Much like his future co-stars Chris Evans, Scarlett Johansson, and Robert Downey Jr., Mackie reassures that he, too, has read the script for Captain America: Civil War"It's a lot of fun stuff for me to do, but you know, it's Civil War, so it's like a big... civil war," he said. In light of the many superheroes being introduced or fleshed out in Civil War, Mackie was then asked if it's more an Avengers movie than a Captain America movie. "That's what I thought when I first read it," replied Mackie, who previously dubbed the movie "Avengers 3.8". "But it's not at all. It really plays well with the storyline of Cap and how he's evolved into his own man; Him doing his thing, and everybody coming together to fight for the common good of man." Watch the full interview with Anthony Mackie below. Anyhow, with filming scheduled to start in two weeks, on April 27, 2015, expect some Captain America: Civil War announcements/photos really soon. What do you think?

Directed by Joe & Anthony Russo, Captain America: Civil War stars Chris Evans, Robert Downey Jr., Chadwick Boseman, Frank Grillo, Sebastian Stan, Anthony Mackie & Daniel Brühl, with appearances by Scarlett Johansson, Jeremy Renner, and Samuel L. Jackson expected. The film opens May 6, 2016

Honest question: Why would Marvel give a [frick] if fanboys (the only people who actually read and pay attention to these little interviews, and who make up the extreme minority of the overall audience) are under the mistaken impression that it's more of a Avengers movie than a Cap film?

I could be way off base, but I would bet they couldn't care less about what Mackie says unless he's divulging actual plot details. I highly doubt they felt the need to talk to him about something as inconsequential as this.

@TheEpicJuiceBox- I really hope that wasnt a spoiler that you just posted (based on how Age of Ultron). And that would be kind of weird.. What about Tony's team?

Maybe Falcon gets a new suit at the end of Age of Ultron as a certain someone.
StarkAnthony

the biggest thing here to me is he says "they come together for the good of humanity" which indicates that Tony will ultimately not be the villain, that they will all still team up in the end.

I hope in the beginning of the movie Tony creates the suit for Falcon and chooses the colours of Falcon's bike.

Actually that's the minor thing that bothers me. The fact that Civil War is a CA movie. So I hope there will be a sense of equality between Cap and Iron Man but also among the others.

Cap.is the main hero and the team aspect is not emphasized. So it's not an "Avengers" movie.
What's so hard to grasped about that?

Someone said that characters are being shoehorned into the movie wtf. As if Civil War was only about two characters.
Still, we'll see it from Cap's perspective rather than Stark's. So it's Cap's movie.
