Marvel Concept Artist Andy Park Shares Terrifying New Look At Early Designs For ULTRON

"These are some initial passes done for the big baddie, Ultron. What a crazy fun project to work on," Avengers: Age of Ultron artist Andy Park says on his Facebook page about the following pieces of artwork. "I don't get to do the more robotic designs that often here given our resident robot experts in Ryan Meinerding, Phil Saunders, along with Josh Nizzi and Josh Herman. But when I do get a chance I just savor the moment. Too much fun!" Do you think these designs are better than what ended up in the sequel? As always, be sure to let us know your thoughts in the usual place.

Avengers: Age of Ultron stars Chris Evans, Chris Hemsworth, Robert Downey Jr., Mark Ruffalo, Jeremy Renner, Scarlett Johansson, Aaron Taylor-Johnson, Elizabeth Olsen, Cobie Smulders, Don Cheadle, Paul Bettany, James Spader, and Samuel L. Jackson and hits DVD and Blu-ray this year.

Who cares? We ended up with a clownish Ultron with lips and speakers for cheeks.

GTFO with your concept art.

None of these would have fixed how poorly written Ultron was

I think this wouldn't get PG-13 bulshite. It indeed looks better.
But renember, he would still say that pouty dialogues.

Ultron looked pretty good in the movie except for the chicken lips. They threw me off every time he spoke.

Movie just wasn't edgy enough for me. I felt like there was no real sense of danger. Even when quicksilver got shot

I finally saw this, it wasn't horrible as everyone says it is. It was as good as the first one and Ultron was the best villain Marvel had since Loki.

First time in a long, long time where the early designs for a CBM is better than what we got in film.

they're all decent. But they would have called for a character change into the Ultron we know from the comics.

MCU Ultron was a 9 yr old little boy trapped in a killer android body - which just destroyed any possible tension when his "the world shall burn" monologue is continually interrupted by his typically immature reaction to new experiences - which I GUESS fits the MCU Ultron's character, but as a villain it just felt flat like a soda left open over night.

There was no emotional connection to Ultron - he left me feeling completely indifferent to his character arc (he didn't really change/grow - just upgraded shells) as well as his motivations.

@KingJames

Well, which MCU movie gave you a real sense of danger?

@MrSnrub, i agree 100%. Ultron was a piece of shit as villain. With all that amount of power and possibilities, he was beaten up like a piñata throughout the whole movie. It was really frustrating.

Imagine if we had the second design with the character and personality of EHS and Next Avengers instead of what we got...

While I feel it's more important how the character is written than designed....

This would have at least made Ultron slightly better.

But they didn't go with a scarier design because gotta keep it safe for Disney.
