Why is it so much fun to make jokes at Avengers Age of Ultron? Well, for me at least a few reasons. Now, I didn’t see the movie. I’ve heard things, so I can’t say it’s good or bad. But what I’ve heard makes it a lot of fun to make jokes about, just because of the people that either support it or don’t. So here it is, why it’s so much fun to make fun of Age of Ultron.
1. Fans trying to “defend” a good movie.
I haven’t seen many people calling it a bad film. I’ve seen clips, and I read the Wikipedia on it. It really didn’t seem like a bad movie, hell it sounded decent. But when I see people trying so god damn hard to defend it, it’s laughable. Especially since I haven’t seen people say it’s a bad movie! I’ve seen that it disappoints, it’s not some people’s favorite MCU film, its underwhelming, but NOT that it sucks (okay, I’ve seen some “trolls” saying that, but not enough to warrant the amount of defense I see). Guess what: if you have to try very hard to defend a movie, then that means that there must be some reason to why some didn’t like it that much! And the fact that I see so many trying to justify Ultron’s humor is laughable!

2. $2 Billion or Bust!
I’ve seen the box office reports, and it’s been a well-known fact that this movie would be a success. BUT then you have certain people saying this will be a $2 Billion movie. I don’t do drugs, but I want what those guys were smoking! There were some serious guys saying that this will be a $2 Billion CBM, when there’s only two films that have accomplished this, and both had the help of groundbreaking effects, IMAX, 3D, and multiple releases. So many people thought it was a sure thing that AOU would out gross the original, but since they haven’t and likely won’t, that’s funny. What adds on more fuel to the amount of comedy to me: NO ONE EXPECTED FURIOUS 7 TO MAKE AS MUCH AS IT HAS. And what’s even better: people are saying that’s because of Paul Walker’s death. A death does not add a billion to a movie’s gross. It didn’t do anything for Mockingjay last year, and if you honestly think that The Dark Knight wouldn’t have made its billion without Heath Ledger, go jump off a bridge. Many people say that it doesn’t deserve as much, but what movie does deserve a billion? Two Transformers movies? Two Pirates of the Caribbean movies? Star Wars Episode 1? Two Avengers movies???? (JK). But yeah, Furious 7 was one of two movies I saw in theaters this year (the other being Mad Max: Fury Road), and I really enjoyed it, it got great reviews, and it’s not a bad movie. But again, who expected it to beat the first Avengers movie in worldwide gross? If that doesn’t make you laugh, I don’t think you know comedy.

3. This movie will be different!
Everyone was saying this movie would be a different take on the MCU, and take it in new directions, being like The Winter Soldier. What we got (as far as I’ve seen) is the same stuff as MCU before, in fact a lot of people say that this movie shows beat for beat how Marvel movies are made, with a worldwide disaster with no real stakes, and an underwhelming villain. That makes me laugh when I saw these same people saying a week prior ‘THERE ARE NO STRINGS ON ME!’ It’s really something to me how many people were disappointed (I’m not saying everybody) and I’m not saying that’s bad, I’m saying that some people were really just disappointed by the final product, and I can see why with this being the years possibly most anticipated movie. Conversely, I see so many people praising every aspect of the film, putting it as Top 5 CBMs of all time, top MCU film, blah blah blah. I saw the same people saying that Iron Man 3, Thor 2, Captain America 2, and Guardians of the Galaxy are the top films in MCU and CBM of all time. A lesion I’ve learned is that everything changes with time. I don’t know why some are being so quick to praise it as so high, when those things need time. It’s new and shiny, let it stand the test of time for at least a month before praising it as one of the greats. Until then, I’m going to think that this is like every other “Best CBM of all time” until I see something that stands the tests of time like The Dark Knight, Iron Man, Spider-Man 2, Superman, etc.

4. Joss Whedon’s Comments and Fan Reactions
Here it is, what really makes me laugh: people thinking that Marvels Golden Goose is done with Marvel. Marvel Studios has their bad relationships with certain people, and people are now saying that Joss Whedon may be on that list of people they’ve pissed off. From him saying about a week after the film’s release what scenes were forced out, what scenes were forced in, his thoughts that Edgar Wrights Ant Man script was great, to everything. It’s odd, but the fan reactions combined with this just make me laugh a little bit. Maybe Joss is done with Marvel forever. Maybe not. But when you have people saying things like “he was a hack anyway” from loyal Marvel fans, it really shows what some fans are like. People forget that Joss shaped the Avengers, and really helped with a lot of Phase 2, and are now saying that he sucks because they don’t like AOU or think that Marvel fired him/he quit. I see where the loyalties stand with some…
5. “I’ve seen it 5 times…”
Congrats, you blew $50 that could have been donated to save sick kids in Africa. Some fans think that if they see a movie multiple times that will help it make over a billion and secure its spot at highest grossing film of 2015 (again, lets laugh at how much Furious 7 made for a second). I know that some really like the movie and saw it in theaters 5 times just because they like it so much. But people really do think the extra $10 will bump it up a billion. And while it doesn’t hurt the movie certainly, it really does not help it as much as you think. You helped it approximately .000001%. On a separate note: can the idiots saying anyone that watches Fantastic Four is a terrible person please stop? The movie looks good, if it is people will see it, and it’s highly unlikely that Fox is making the Sony mistake of expecting a billion (that’s why Marvel got the rights, the movie made over $750 million, but because TASM 2 was expected to make a billion and Sony drained so much into it, it was considered a financial disappointment). Your .000001% will not help or hurt a movie. Get over it. So these fans that think the .000001% will make or break a movie are so convoluted or think so highly of themselves make me laugh, especially because of how bad they make the studio look.
In essence, it’s not the movie I like to make fun of, it’s the fans watching it. The way they react to the smallest criticism sometimes is really just amusing to watch. Yes, I know it makes me a troll, but you know what, 95% of you are trolls anyway. You all do things to piss of people on the internet. As long as none of us go Dexter level, then it’s all in good fun.
