We're now an entire Phase into the Multiverse Saga, but with what many have deemed a quantity-over-quality issue, it seems Marvel Studios is going back to the drawing board.
A number of projects have been pushed further down the release calendar (unofficially for now), and what once looked set to be a jam-packed Phase 5 will take place over a longer period of time. What that means for Avengers: The Kang Dynasty and Avengers: Secret Wars is hard to say, but the apparent two-part conclusion to this Saga could be further expanded.
According to a report from Inside the Magic, Avengers: Secret Wars will indeed be split in two.
This isn't the first time the rumour has started doing the rounds, and it's previously been reported that the Multiverse Saga could expand into Phase 7, with a movie titled Avengers Forever bidding a final farewell to the Infinity Saga's lead characters.
We'd assumed The Kang Dynasty and Secret Wars would be akin to Infinity War and Endgame, but if the Multiverse Saga's finale is really that big, this approach might make the most sense.
It's worth noting that, following reports The Beyonder will be a Kang Variant, there's been chatter about all movies released after Avengers: The Kang Dynasty being set in a Battleworld-style reality. If so, it means Phase 6's movies will take place in a new MCU similar to what happened in Jonathan Hickman's Secret Wars comic book event.
It's an exciting - and somewhat confusing - time to be a fan of the MCU, that's for sure. Hopefully, the story Marvel Studios is building to with Kang at its core will start making sense, though Ant-Man and The Wasp: Quantumania only further muddied the waters when we had been anticipating it clearing up where this Saga is heading.
Avengers: Secret Wars is currently set to be released in theaters on May 5, 2026.
