Captain Marvel Won't Be In AVENGERS: INFINITY WAR But She's Now Confirmed For AVENGERS 4

We've all been wondering about Captain Marvel's Avengers: Infinity War status but co-director Joe Russo has now confirmed that she'll join Earth's Mightiest Heroes for the first time in Avengers 4...

We've heard a lot of conflicting reports about Brie Larson's Avengers: Infinity War status with many fans theorising that Marvel Studios will be using that movie to introduce her to moviegoers for the first time. While it is, of course, possible that she'll show up in an after-credits scene of some sort, it's now been confirmed that she won't be assembling with Earth's Mightiest Heroes until Avengers 4 in 2019.

During an on-set interview for Avengers: Infinity War, Joe Russo was quick to praise Brie Larson but made it clear that she won't be blasting her way into that movie when it's released on April 27th.

"If it's not, it is official now," Joe Russo said in regards to Carol Danvers first joining the team in Avengers 4. "I think Captain Marvel's got a great outfit in this film." Considering the fact that Captain Marvel is set primarily in the 1990s, it's not clear if her solo movie or Avengers 4 will deal with her arrival in the present day but it makes sense for it to be either one given each of their cosmic settings.

Regardless, we can clearly expect Captain Marvel to go some way in setting up the events of Avengers 4 and can forget about the character making a cameo appearance of any sort a month from now.

I don't think anyone every expected her to be prominently featured in Infinity War. Perhaps in an after credits scene, but that's it.

lets talk about the fact that her movie takes place in the 90's but no one seems to remember her? Her exploits were never mentioned. Not even by Fury to any of the Avengers.

@osideous - I was thinking it'll take place mostly in space with her fighting Kree and the Skrulls! Witch would explain no one knowing her...

@osideous - I think most people assume that time travel is involved.

As for Fury, depending how they play it, his line to Tony Stark in Iron Man 1 could be seen as a reference.

@osideous - We’ll there’s a few options there. First Fury very rarely says anything he doesn’t have to that much is made abundantly clear in The Winter Soldier, so that’s not really implausible that he’d keep knowledge of other heroes in between Cap and Stark hidden. I mean he was the director he obviously at least knew of Pym’s history as Ant-Man if he wasn’t around as an agent when he was active. Second her movie as far as they’ve stated takes place primarily in space as one would imagine most of her adventures since her origin would be if she’s aligned with the Kree in the Kree/Skull War. Third is the least likely but still possible that Thanos alters the timeline using the infinity gauntlet at the end of Infinity War and Captain Marvel takes place in that new timeline. So it’s reqlly not that crazy that no one has brought her up until now. What IS a little off is that she’s never come up in Guardians and that she won’t have aged at all in the 20 odd years since that movie will have taken place

@osideous - Captain Marvel is an enemy of the skrulls, Nick Fury is a skrull.

@osideous - She has been referenced before. In Iron Man Fury tells Stark that he’s become part of a larger universe and just didn’t know it yet, Captain Marvel is one of the people he’s refernecing. She’s the first super hero he interacted with, she’s the one who made him realize that Fury himself has become part of a larger universe. At least according to interviews so far.

@osideous - He also doesn't mention Ant Man/the Wasp, Winter Soldier, any of the previous Black Panthers (I'm assuming they also had certain actions outside Wakanda; etc. It's a retcon, plain and simple. Despite all the planning, its hard to know what's exactly going to be included in 5-10 years.

@GoldGuy - I would say about 50%+ of the users are in denial about time travel on here. It's a hard concept to swallow, I get that. I don't think Captain Marvel exists yet in this version of the Marvel timeline. But maybe that's pushing the time travel concept a little too far.

Hopefully she has long beautiful hair and not have her recent hair style (Carl Manvers).

@MultiMedia996 - She will be defined by her character not her hair style.
