Following earlier tidbits of info regarding on-location shooting for Marvel's forthcoming film, The Avengers in Cleveland, Ohio, a brief press conference was held earlier this morning. Revealing the setting in the film for the filming location among other things, along with a few none-revealing images, check it all out below.

CLEVELAND, Ohio -- Store by store, workers this week are transforming East Ninth Street into a stand-in for New York City’s famed 42nd Street as the stars of "The Avengers" movie finish filming at the NASA Plum Brook facility in Sandusky.

If you want to see the changes look fast because the street will be blown up in climactic battle scenes over the next four weeks.
The stars of the movie -- including Robert Downey Jr. (Iron Man); Chris Hemsworth (Thor); Chris Evans (Captain America); Samuel L. Jackson (Nick Fury) and Scarlett Johansson (Black Widow) -- and the rest will be in Cleveland for filming Aug. 15 on East Ninth Street from Euclid to Prospect avenues.

Patty Whitcher, executive producer of the Marvel Studios/Disney film, said fans of comics and movies will get an eyeful in coming weeks. "We have to keep people back a bit for safety reasons -- there will be explosions -- but they will be able to see the actors and their favorite Avengers on the street during the filming," she said in a press conference this morning. "There will be six days of mayhem on this street with lots of explosions and car flipping."

With that, it seems we may have some set images of our heroes in costume during the week. And with filming on the location commencing today, locals are already tweeting images, though mostly depicting preparation.

Marvel's The Avengers picks up when an unexpected enemy emerges that threatens global safety and security. And Nick Fury, director of the international peacekeeping agency known as S.H.I.E.L.D., finds himself in need of a team to pull the world back from the brink of disaster. With director Joss Whedon at it's helm, and an ensemble cast including Chris Evans (Steve Rogers), Robert Downey Jr. (Tony Stark), Chris Hemsworth (Thor Odinson), Jeremy Renner (Clint Barton), Mark Ruffalo (Bruce Banner), Scarlett Johansson (Natasha Romanoff), Clark Gregg (Agt. Phil Coulson), Cobie Smulders (Maria Hill), Samuel L. Jackson (Nick Fury), with Tom Hiddleston (Loki Laufeyson), and Stellan Skarsgard (Professor Erik Selvig), the film releases worldwide May 4, 2012!

tomtom12@ If the information we see shows crappy looking villains that are a stretch from what they should be, lousy costume design, etc. then I will voice my opinion just like I have on TDKR. I am a fan of Marvel and DC. I am not a fan of crappy adaptations and translations from the comics to the big screen.

The Avengers will only be as good as it's villain. Battling HULK is kinda safe and it is an actual comicbook story, but it's also a tad lame. Too early in the series for Skrulls, but hey, if that pull that out of their hats, fine. The A-Team has to face a real threat. And I hope the sets look better than what we've been seeing for the SHIELD headquarters with those cheap looking wall panels.
