That's the way we all feeled before everyone decided to change their minds.
I'm serious look at the comments in the beginning everyone loved then by the end they use their new favorite word "underwhelming". How many times did that show ul in the thread?

I liked the trailer.

I found it to be flat. The rock music was nondescript, just loud. The effects are still obviously being worked out so there was nothing there that gave wow factor. I thought they were trying to emulate a "Transformer's" vibe, especially in the beginning. Well, if that was the case, they failed. Watch the transformers trailer for the last movie, and it looks very sharp, very epic. This was kind of small. I liked the first frame of NY and Loki's line "You were made...to be ruled." Very sinister. You get some indication of the tensions between characters (most obviously, Iron Man and Cap, and Thor and Cap). I like that they saved Hulk for last. Overall, it was a little disjointed and underwhelming. I think that's because they are still trying to keep the alien thing a secret, but come on, we know that Loki has an army of aliens. They are still being processed through FX obviously. The cars blowing up for no good reason? MY guess is that they will add effects to that and you will see what is doing all the damage. So, including it was stupid...more showing off that Joss Whedon knows how to blow stuff up. I think most people are "wowed" by the trailer just because they have been thirsting for this movie for so long. If you really stop to think about it, the trailer was a little underwhelming...

I wasn't too impressed. It was like an extended version of the teaser.
Doesn't change my excitement over this film

@vtopa- You just had to use the word didn't you?

@ksommer- LMAO! I know right?

I don't mind people complaining but the same complaints over and over gets annoying. Rock music (which is news to me that people don't like rock), too much Downey (that basically = too much win), didn't say anything about the plot (its not out till May, I'm surprised we even got footage of Hulk thks early).

you don't have to be a Nolanite in order to dislike something about this movie. So I guess you could say that whoever doesn't like the Batman movies is a Marvel Supremacist..

I guess that's gonna start yet ANOTHER argument.
So I guess it's 503 DC fans, Nolanites, and then me

The dialogue isn't what it should be. Everyone will expect action but this movie will rise and fall on how the interactions between these characters is handled and what I'm hearing is less than inspired.

Lets see Cap shooting a gun (seen it) Thor jumping around and waving the hammer (seen it) Scarlett standing around (seen it in a TON of pics) and Ironman doing fancy spin tricks in the air (seen it). Yea, most exciting trailer ever. Did I mention the recycled Ironman footage?

The Hollywood Reporter stated that it was "Awesome. Or it would be if we hadn't seen all of this before and expected every single thing that we saw in the trailer"

^That pretty much goes with my humble opinion.
I wanted to see Loki vs The Avengers, Skrulls, Thanos, etc

@Super178 Nice ownage. ;D
Both the TDKR and Avengers trailers are [frick]ing excellent, definitely prefer Avengers though (wait til we get a better trailer for TDKR, that will blow the first one out of the water).

No worries Intruder, I got it.
The "recycled" footage is included because it is important to the last film. A recap if you will. Liam Neeson's voice was included because his character is vital to the film's plot. The lines were a bit cheesy though.

They should make a massive-Avatar style trailer. If they want cash they should go all out and give the audiences brain-orgasms
But this time having good dialogue as well as action

I agree, which is why i see no problem with bits and pieces in the Avengers teaser that we had already seen before as well.
Supes17
Supes17 - 10/14/2011, 12:55 PM
@Shaman: Yeah, but I'm sure The Avengers have way better footage right now. They could have used that space to put in dialogue between Loki and Thor, or new Hulk footage, which was what the teaser was lacking
Supes17
Supes17 - 10/14/2011, 12:56 PM
I never said that TDKR's teaser was better. Even if I think it is, it's MY opinion.

It was an answer to "Yeah, and Gordon's old ass in a hospital bed blew you away I bet."
That sounds more like trolling to me.

@TEA: how dare you attempt to temper the expectations over this epic epicness that is epic, and jizztocious : )
vtopa
vtopa - 10/14/2011, 12:58 PM
@Intruder. What I said was, IF they were going for a transformers vibe, they failed. IF IF IF. I agree with you that this SHOULD be a more substantive film in terms of story-line and character development (although lifelong fans of Transformers may disagree with you...I've heard them talk about how Optimus Prime was a father figure for them growing up, how they see Hakespearean undertones in those characters etc so our excitement over seeing a man in a robot suit fight alongside a norse god and a "green rage monster" might seem shallow to THEM).

If they were trying to introduce the characters, they did NOT do a good job. We get that Stark is a playboy. We get that Cap and Banner are squares. We learn NOTHING else about the other characters. Black Widow, Hawkeye, Thor? Thor chuckles. Black Widow gives pouty bad-ass looks and Hawkeye does...well...nothing that tells me about his character other than he's the guy with the bow. Thor, Cap, Hulk, and Iron Man have movies out so we already know them. They should have given us more Black Widow and Hawkeye. That would have filled out the character introduction thing better than what they did.

As for the music, its not that I don't like it so much as I want something on a more epic level...the kind of music from the 300 trailer or X-Men 3 (go check them out online). These are the world's GREATEST heroes and the premise of the movie is that they will save the WHOLE planet from an alien invasion. If that were to really happen I would guess that historians would count that as the single greatest event in human history, making everything from World War II to the fall of the Roamn Empire seem like peanuts. The music should live up to that. Instead it makes it look like a comic book version of Fast and Furious.
Greengo
Greengo - 10/14/2011, 12:58 PM
I agree I'd rather go into a movie not expecting too much and get blown away than having really high hopes and getting let down : )
