Armie Hammer Debunks A Lot Of Rumors By Making His Lack Of Interest In Superhero Movies Clear

Armie Hammer has been rumoured for a lot of different superhero roles in recent years but the actor has now revealed why we shouldn't necessarily expect to see him in either the Marvel or DC Universes...

Over the past couple of years, Armie Hammer's name has come up a lot in relation to a number of different superhero role. The actor was going to play Batman in Goerge Miller's motion-capture Justice League but his name has come up when talking about everyone from Green Lantern to Shazam.

He's frequently stirred up speculation with Twitter follows and cryptic Instagram posts but in a new interview, he confirmed that a superhero movie isn't necessarily in his future right now. "I’m trying to answer in a way that’s not going to get me into trouble," the actor said. "Alright, f*ck it, might as well go for it. I haven’t seen a superhero movie in a long time where I thought, f*ck, I wish I was in that."

So, it doesn't sound like he's interested in the Marvel or DC Universes in that case but he did later backtrack a little by saying, "If a great director came around and said ‘I have this idea’… but at the end of the day, no one’s asked and I’m not going out of my way to do it." That debunks a lot of rumours!

Going back to the time he very nearly played Batman, Hammer said his version of the Caped Crusader would have had major trust issues and been "deranged." Interestingly, it seems the actor is trying to establish himself as a serious actor before considering a superhero role as he at one point said, "For
me there’s not like a huge rush. Would I love to own a huge house? Yes, for sure. But at the end of the day I’m more interested now in my artistic credibility." What do you think about these remarks?

I'm glad he has no interest either way. I'd LOVE to see him as Adam Warlock, but if Marvel can't have him no one should. Don't @ me, sorry, that's just, my opinion man. He's too good for DC/Warner, and that's that.

I think a lot of actors such as him have an opportunity to elevate roles that are not really main stream in Superhero films. Chris Evans did it for Captain America, Chris Pratt for Guardians and Margot Robbie as Harley Quinn. He needs to find a role he can sink his teeth into and take ownership of it. No one has claimed interesting superheroes such as Adam Warlock or villains like the Riddle who no-one has adapted to the movie screen.

@Forthas - Stephanie Hunt really needs to play Zatanna.

No one is asking him to lead any feature films, let alone cbms

I think he still has bad memories from the Lone Ranger and doesn’t want to get himself hype for a role that might not happen or might happen and fail.
I thought he would’ve made a great choice for Batman, Green Lantern, Hawkman, Colossus, Powerman, the Sentry, probably would’ve made for a more accurate Aquaman too.

Armie Hammer is playing DarkSeid (called it a year ago). Whether or not we actually get to see him as Darseid is another story entirely.

Gareth Hedlund for GL!

I think his take on how he would have liked to play Batman is spot on for me. But I feel like mainstream audiences only want to see Batman's 'gadgets'. Where's the world's greatest detective that happens to also be a functioning sociopath with outstanding fighting skills?

He's free to believe what he wants but comments like this seem out of touch. Look at how many great, award winning. Actors and actresses sign up for these movies. Cate blanchett just played the goddess of death for Pete's sake
