BATGIRL Officially Begins Production; Check Out A BTS Photo From The Desk Of Officer Barbara Gordon

Batgirl directors Adil El Arbi and Bilall Fallah have taken to Instagram to announce that production is now officially underway on the HBO Max feature, giving us a look at the movie's logo in the process.

Cameras are now rolling on the upcoming HBO Max Batgirl movie, which will see Leslie Grace don the cowl of Gotham City's other Caped Crusader.

Directors Adil El Arbi and Bilall Fallah took to Instagram to make the announcement, while giving us a first behind-the-scenes look at the set. The "Day One" photo features the official Batgirl logo, and comes to us straight from the desk of Officer Barbara Gordon.

This obviously confirms early reports that this version of the character will already be a GCPD officer when we meet her, and will most likely rise through the ranks to replace her father Jim Gordon as the new Commissioner.

Batgirl will also star J.K. Simmons as Jim Gordon, and Jacob Scipio and Brendan Fraser in undisclosed roles (the latter is believed to be playing the villainous Firefly). Loki composer Natalie Holt recently announced that she's signed on to work on the movie's score, while Christina Hodson, who wrote Bumblebee and also worked on Birds of Prey and The Flash, penned the most recent draft of the script.

DC FanDome gave us a first glimpse of some concept art, but now that production is underway, we might just get a look at some set photos in the coming weeks.

@BlackBeltJones - surpised they didnt have it be Jim and his family showing up at wayne manor at the end of part 2, could have been a nice way to call back to the start of part one and forshadow her becoming batgirl

I still dont get the current state of DCEU or DC movies in general. So if JK Simmons is back then this is set in the DCEU right?

@MeAreLegend - Yes, it is, but Keaton is taking over Batfleck's role and mentoring a new generation of Gotham vigilantes which will eventually become the Batfamily.

I guess everything depends on what happens in The Flash.

@Battabingg - Which Batman is going to be in the Final Crisis movie hinted at during Fandome and by a certain director over the weekend? Affleck makes so much sense.

@GarthRanzz - There is no Final Crisis movie, nor was one hinted at during Fandome. That's just the Snyder stans acting crazy, as usual.
Honestly, Snyder doesn't have the talent to adapt that wacky story.

@Battabingg - What was Jim Lee talking about at Fandome?

@GarthRanzz -

Rumor is that DC making a 3-part Crisis on Infinite Earths animated movie.
Has nothing to do with Snyder. He's gone.

I´m afraid thats going to feel like an overproduced pilot
I hope that they push it to 2023, 2022 its overcrowded anyways

@MUTO123 - True, but let's see how theaters do next year. Some places in Europe are re-instituting shutdowns thanks to omicron.
