BATGIRL Star Leslie Grace Confirms Batman Won't Appear In The Movie (But Hopes To Team-Up With Harley Quinn)

Batgirl star Leslie Grace has revealed that we won't see Batman in the upcoming HBO Max movie, while touting the possibility that her Caped Crusader could cross paths with Margot Robbie's Harley Quinn...

We're not exactly surprised by this news, but Batgirl star Leslie Grace has confirmed that we won't be seeing Batman in the upcoming HBO Max movie. This actually contradicts reports that Michael Keaton will be sticking around the DC Extended Universe as a mentor to heroes like Babara Gordon, but Warner Bros. never really has much of a plan, so that may be subject to change.

During a recent interview with Entertainment Tonight, Grace revealed the one character she's particularly excited to cross paths with in the movie (if it were up to her, of course).

"I was freaking out!" the actress said of receiving Margot Robbie's support. "I'm such a fan. I can't even. She's one of the biggest badasses in the superhero world. I haven't had a chance to meet her, but it would be awesome if at any point Batgirl comes through and Miss Harley Quinn drops by Gotham and have some business to handle, it might be cool!"

"Batman's out -- he's doing a whole bunch of stuff -- so I'm going to need some of my ladies to help me out on this next run, you know what I'm saying?"

What "stuff" Batman is doing remains to be seen, but nobody should be too shocked to learn that the Dark Knight won't be showing up, especially as this movie doesn't take place in the same world as The Batman (Ben Affleck, meanwhile, is almost certainly moving on from Bruce Wayne after The Flash).

Birds of Prey took place in Gotham City, and Batman was a non-factor there, so we're not expecting much more than just a vague nod to his whereabouts in this movie. So far, the only other confirmed cast member is J.K. Simmons as Commissioner Gordon, while Firefly is the rumoured villain.

Adil El Arbi and Bilall Fallah are directing Batgirl (written by Christina Hodson) for a 2022 release.

'' I'm going to need some of my ladies to help me out on this next run, you know what I'm saying?''

If you're saying Birds of Prey vs Gotham City Sirens? I'm on board 100%. Not that much looking forward to the Canary movie, but I do wanna see Batgirl and Canary team up.

I'm really nervous for this movie right now.

DC's movie track record is horrible.

I praying for an OUTSTANDING Batgirl film with a great story and epic action. :)

Is it possible?

@SteelGunZ - as much as I like DC yeah they are very very hit or miss (usually more of the later) it’s like every 1 good movie is followed by several bad or mediocre movies

I mean I didn't expect Batman to show up, with JK Simmons being gordon in the movie it makes it all the more confusing as it is, Cause that implies that Affleck is the Batman of this universe and we all know he wouldn't be popping up. Although like the batwoman tv show still kind of weird to have a movie based on a character who is normally associated with the main hero and not have that main hero appear.

that sucks. just imagine if they had a tiny short scene where she, dick and bruce meet for a drink. like what titans tried to do (and didnt quite pull it off cuz their bruce is lame)? that would be amazing. i hate to be 'that' guy, but marvel would absolutely do that. they understand how important it is to add those little moments and connect characters more. make it feel like theres some history between them, make the universe feel rich.

@rebellion - Totally agree. World-building is part of the fun. There was a little bit in the JL Snyder Cut. That scene between Diana & Arthur, discussing their heritages, and some of the history between the two races.

@KWilly - that one phrase from her immediately kills any hype for this film. Enough with Harley Quinn, she is way too overhyped and overused by WB.

@HeavyMetal4Life - She peaked in Batman The Animated Series, she was great and I'll admit it was good seeing her in Suicide Squad but yeah overused now.

Comic books
Animated show
Birds Of Prey
The Suicide Squad

Way too much Harley Quinn.

She wants Harley to team up with her?l lmao

SMH

I’m so done with this franchise before it even started. DC is pure shet. This from a hardcore fan. Comics aside, even their shetty CW shows aside, practically ever movie they’ve made for the past 10 years has been huge loads of 💩

Just mind blowing.

I have an idea, let’s make an Icon movie, but let’s have him team up with Harley 😒

Don't mind Batman appearing but ugh I'm so over Margot's Harley Quinn although granted I unfortunately haven't seen Suicide Squad yet.

@Godzilla2000Zer - tbh probably her best turn thusfar, though to be fair, I haven't seen Birds of Prey.

@PapaSpank54 - Yeah Suicide Squad can change my mind about her portrayal but I'm just really over the character and how WB wants to keep bringing her back while other better characters like Green Lantern for example keep being neglected.

I want the Bat Family. Wb wants to keep them isolated from one another so bad.
GhostDog
GhostDog - 9/9/2021, 6:35 AM
@Waddles - WB really believes Batman needs to be ALONE and/or BROKEN when he actually has the best support system of any superhero.

It's not a team it's a BAT FAMILY. Some of his best stories have them involved. I am excited about the Reeves film but I hope the filmmakers start to realize the story and dramatic potential of having Batman play off of his kids/partners. IDK, maybe they don't know how to or are afraid to put Batman in that father figure light. Sometimes, broken and old seems easy to write or succumb to with Batman.

Batman as a father is great stuff.

@BlackBeltJones - I would love to see a movie, where its Batman and the whole bat family going up against a few Batman villains, or they go up against the court of owls.

@Waddles - Damien was such a little shit at first but now his more prickly demeanor has become a lot better as its been balanced out with a real tenderness that is underneath all of it.

@Waddles - It's a big missed opportunity if WB doesn't build up to a Bat family movie. They could do it in the Pattinson universe.

I'm a fan of all things DC. I want this film to succeed. But the warning signs that this will be another DC/WB crash-and-burn are there. No Batman or even a Bruce Wayne appearance in a Batgirl movie??
dracula
dracula - 9/9/2021, 9:49 AM
@GeneralZod - well Batman doesnt appear in every comic connected to him.

Most batgirl comics don’t involve batman
