While most Batman fans have been focused on what Rocksteady Studios is doing with their next game, another developer with a history tied to the Dark Knight has released what appears to be a teaser for a new game.

Warner Bros. Games Montréal, developer of Batman: Arkham Origins, ended four years of radio silence on Twitter, posting a cryptic 21-second teaser in celebration of Batman's 80th anniversary. The teaser, which you can watch below, is focused on the bat signal but keen eyes might spot some suspicious symbols that pop up every few seconds. Check it out the teaser below and see for yourself.

It didn't take long for Batman fans to freeze frame the images and begin speculating. The most obvious one appears related to the Head of the Demon, Ra's al Ghul. We last saw Ra's in Batman: Arkham City and while he apparently died in that game, everyone knows he has a history of popping back up. Another symbol appears to be related to the Court of Owls, an organized crime group that trains assassins.

Interestingly, the mysterious teaser arrives just two days before Sony's State of Play, a PlayStation livestream show dedicated to “new game reveals, new content from PlayStation’s Worldwide Studios, and a host of other updates."

It seems a new Batman game from Warner Bros. Games Montréal is being primed for a reveal. If this is a new entry in the Batman: Arkham series, it would be the fifth mainline installment. Arkham Asylum (2009) and Arkham City (2011) were both developed by Rocksteady, while WB Games Montréal handled development on 2013's Arkham Origins. The series returned to Rocksteady with 2015's Arkham Knight. If WB Games Montréal is working on the next installment then that raises even more questions as to what Rocksteady is developing.
