Hans Zimmer wins a double at the Classic Brit Awards for his work on the scores of Man of Steel & The Dark Knight Rises.

The soundtracks won Zimmer the composer of the year prize at the ceremony at London’s Royal Albert Hall, fighting off competition from fellow nominees Ludovico Einaudi and Arvo Part.

He was also rewarded for his outstanding contribution to music, recognising a career which has also included the soundtracks to Christopher Nolan’s Inception and the Pirates Of The Caribbean franchise.

The German-born composer – who accepted the latter award from Sir MIchael Caine, also performed at the event, accompanying the London Chamber Orchestra on the piano as they delivered a medley of his work. The composer is currently working on The Amazing Spider-man 2 soundtrack.

Highlights of the event will be screened on Sunday evening on ITV at 10.20pm.

Awesome. Surprising though considering that initially the Man of Steel score was so negatively received by critics. The score wasn't everything I had hoped for but I thought he did a great job, here's hoping he comes back for MoS 2.

@Nomis at last i see someone else who goes for The Dallas Cowboys on here! Hey i hope dallas is ready because come sunday we play the Broncos it's going to be tough no doubt. But if our defense and offense show up full throttle, It'll be an exicting battle for sure.

One of the best composers out there. His Spidy score is going to be epic and give spidy a more emotional ride.

It is no surprise that a more serious and daring approach to CBMs would demand a rich and epic soundtracks to compliment them.

Highly preferred over the generic and forgettable music recycled in the average CBM.
