BATMAN: THE BRAVE AND THE BOLD Reportedly Enlists THE FLASH & BIRDS OF PREY Writer Christina Hodson

We're still waiting on official word that The Flash director Andy Muschietti has signed on to helm The Brave and Bold, but a new report indicates that the project has found a writer...

The Flash director Andy Muschietti's recent response to a question about Batman: The Brave and the Bold led to speculation that he may be in line to helm the upcoming DCU reboot, and earlier today, a rumor that he's been "locked in" to the project did the rounds online.

Though we're still waiting on official word (James Gunn will likely weigh in at some point if this is accurate), reliable insider @MyTimeToShineHello is now claiming to have confirmed that Muschietti will indeed direct the movie, and he'll be joined by The Flash scribe Christina Hodson (Birds of Prey, Batgirl, Bumblebee).

Again, this should be taken as a rumor until we learn more.

UPDATE: It sounds like we might be waiting a while for some kind of announcement, as the Muschietti still can't talk about (potentially) directing The Brave and the Bold.

The Brave and the Bold won't be a direct adaptation of the comic series of the same name, but it will introduce the "Bat-Family and follow Bruce Wayne's attempts to wrangle his new Robin, Damian Wayne, under control in a father/son story."

"Directed by Andy Muschietti, The Flash features Barry Allen traveling back in time in order to change events of the past. But when his attempt to save his family inadvertently alters the future, Barry becomes trapped in a reality in which General Zod has returned, threatening annihilation, and there are no Super Heroes to help. That is, unless Barry can coax a very different Batman out of retirement and rescue an imprisoned Kryptonian…albeit not the one he’s looking for.

Ultimately, to save the world that he is in and return to the future that he knows, Barry’s only hope is to race for his life. But will making the ultimate sacrifice be enough to reset the universe?"

The Flash is produced by Barbara Muschietti and Michael Disco, with a screenplay by Christina Hodson, and a screen story by John Francis Daley & Jonathan Goldstein and Joby Harold, based on characters from DC. Warner Bros. Pictures presents a Double Dream/a Disco Factory production of an Andy Muschietti film.

@THEDARKKNIGHT1939 - that movie is good on the technical aspect.

I liked the movie the first time I watched it. On a second view; bad.

I hope this Brave and The Bold take is more comic accurate.

@AmazingFILMporg - good visuals, bad take on Batman.

I'm done with this grounded Batman crap. Nolan did wwwwaaaaay better.

First we got batman knocking doors and then that ridiculous flood at the end. It's like watching two different movies.

@AmazingFILMporg - It was a best of Seven and Zodiac without reaching the brilliance of both these movies. Dont act like it was a timeless masterpiece. Go watch more movies.

@Grouchy55 - WTF are you talking about?

I don't care for studio drama and gossip or James Gunn... And you are assuming that I'm a Nolan fan (I'm not). Those movies are really good IMO and trying another grounded take on Batman it's just stupid because Nolan did it first and not so long ago.

Hodson gave us BoP and that was above average so why not?

@Nolanite - the film was a mixed bag and any highlights did not include the writing. Very much the opposite.

@Nolanite - I agree. Quite underrated actually.

@TheLobster - It wasn't the best, to be sure. But it had it's own charm.
I blame more the lack of singular leadership and second guessing that follow that for it's shortcomings.
The writing was solid.

Thanks, but no thanks.

I'll stick to The Batman II then.

Better not do do Damian what she did to Cassandra Cain

@dracula - Still can't believe she doesn't get more shit for that tbh, might be one of the worst adaptions of a comicbook character ever imo.

Bumblebee’s like the only watchable transformers movie, but birds of prey was just a mess in terms of its script. She was in the dcu writer’s room, so I guess it was inevitable she’d get a movie lol. Gonna assume Tom King writes Supergirl, Goddard writes Authority and Slater writes… idk, swamp thing?
GhostDog

@tmp3 - she didn’t even write the finished bumblebee. It went though major script doctoring; her draft

@GhostDog - Yeah, Kelly Fremon Craig did some uncredited rewrites iirc. Beyond weird they didn't bring anyone from that movie back for Rise of the Beasts.
