New York Post have reported on a death on the set of Christopher Nolan's The Dark Knight Rises. Here are some excerpts from NYP's report...

Sources say the unidentified male extra died from a heart attack during rehearsals. He’d wandered off during a break, and was discovered unconscious nearby

“He was taken immediately to the hospital,” said a source. “It was during a period when the film was shooting a huge sequence with several hundred extras in the Wall Street area. But the male extra had been rehearsing in another location away from the set. While on a break, he’d walked away and died of natural causes.”

“The studio can confirm that a male extra passed away while on a break during an off-set crowd rehearsal for a sequence with several hundred extras . . . in early November. Production fully cooperated with the authorities’ investigation, which established that he died of natural causes,” a Warners rep said.

Warner Bros. Pictures’ and Legendary Pictures’ “The Dark Knight Rises” is the epic conclusion to filmmaker Christopher Nolan’s Batman trilogy. The screenplay is written by Christopher Nolan and Jonathan Nolan, story by Christopher Nolan & David S. Goyer. The film is produced by Emma Thomas, Christopher Nolan and Charles Roven, who previously teamed on “Batman Begins” and the record-breaking blockbuster “The Dark Knight.” The executive producers are Benjamin Melniker, Michael E. Uslan, Kevin De La Noy and Thomas Tull, with Jordan Goldberg serving as co-producer. The film is based upon characters appearing in comic books published by DC Comics. Batman was created by Bob Kane.

Starring Christian Bale, Anne Hathaway, Tom Hardy, Michael Caine, Gary Oldman, Joseph Gordon-Levitt, Marion Cotillard and Morgan Freeman, The Dark Knight Rises is set to hit theatres on July 20, 2012!

When I first heard that an extra had died on set I thought of that picture of Hardy fooling around with an extra doing the 'break the bat' pose..... but this is just sad. RIP Mr.Extra. :'(

what is it with Nolans Batman movies anyway, didn't a stuntman die in BB or TDk as well?. :(

He died of a heart attack, near the set, while on a break? So he died, possibly of natural causes, while not working or even on the set?So this really has nothing to do with the movie, does it?

Looking at the headline, you'd think someone died of an injury while filming the movie.

He was actually just threatening to blog about the ending. Nolan didn't approve.

Poor guy, RIP.

Alot of people are getting hurt or killed while filming movies. Like @Shaman said people died on set of Expendables and GI Joe. Also last year a woman was hurt and in a coma while filming Transformers DOTM. And the stuntman for Hawkeye split his head open.

Although this guy died of natural causes.

If I was a stuntman/extra/or anyone else on set of a movie I would be a little scared, lol.

For a second I thought this said that one of the cast members died. That would have been ironic since Ledger died in the last one.

Is there a curse on the Dark Knight?

When I was an extra at Heinz Field I secretly worried the curse would take my life, like something out of Final Destination. I ended up being fine, even won an Ipod Nano in the auction! On a slightly related note, I had my 500+ Bianchi Bike stolen while watching TDK opening morning at the Seattle Imax circa 2008. A Curse?! Or maybe just bad luck.

But RIP dude, from one TDKR extra to another

Jeez that's sucks. There's really nothing you can do for someone like that. All the security and safety personal there.

HEY! Seriously CBM, can you not blow up a topic like this on the front page scroll; A dude had a heart attack, away from the chaotic filming, please just don't add to a hype machine that will detract from the positiveness of the film.
