This year, Tini Howard and Nico Leon will take over as the creative team for DC Comics' Catwoman, and we now have a first look at Jenny Frison's variant cover for the third issue of their run, which is set to hit shelves this March.

This artwork spotlights the version of Selina Kyle we'll meet in Matt Reeves' The Batman, giving is a detailed look at the costume design Zoe Kravitz take on the Dark Knight's feline foe will don in the movie. The character was prominently featured in the most recent trailer (see below), and is expected to play a larger role in the story than previously expected.

Check out the variant cover for Catwoman #41 below.

With Batman out of the picture, Catwoman would be wise to remember that there are more than bats in Gotham's belfries. Speaking of bats, Onyx returns to her home city to bat cleanup and make sure Catwoman's not letting any strays into her city...and with no big Bat in the shadows, those pesky no-killing rules are off the table. Let's see if Catwoman and Onyx can agree on a target…

"Two years of stalking the streets as the Batman (Robert Pattinson), striking fear into the hearts of criminals, has led Bruce Wayne deep into the shadows of Gotham City. With only a few trusted allies — Alfred Pennyworth (Andy Serkis), Lt. James Gordon (Jeffrey Wright) — amongst the city’s corrupt network of officials and high-profile figures, the lone vigilante has established himself as the sole embodiment of vengeance amongst his fellow citizens."

“When a killer targets Gotham’s elite with a series of sadistic machinations, a trail of cryptic clues sends the World’s Greatest Detective on an investigation into the underworld, where he encounters such characters as Selina Kyle/aka Catwoman (Zoë Kravitz), Oswald Cobblepot/aka the Penguin (Colin Farrell), Carmine Falcone (John Turturro), and Edward Nashton/aka the Riddler (Paul Dano). As the evidence begins to lead closer to home and the scale of the perpetrator’s plans becomes clear, Batman must forge new relationships, unmask the culprit, and bring justice to the abuse of power and corruption that has long plagued Gotham City.”

The Batman is set to hit theaters on March 4, 2022.

The body suit is great. The mask?

@THEDARKKNIGHT1939 - in fairness, the premise is that none of these heroes are in their "final forms" and are still learning.

Origame - I know, I'm just not a fan of that premise. Zack Snyder used that justification too, not to say Matt Reeves is anything like Snyder. I just don't see the appeal of watching entire movie of characters wearing proto suits. I think they're cool for a snippet of the movie, but shouldn't be used for the whole thing. In Batman Begins for example, Bruce was learning but still looked like Batman. Imagine if he looked like this the majority of the time just because it's a movie about self discovery:

@THEDARKKNIGHT1939 - it's weird. She has this heavy stylized suit, but has a budget ripped balaclava? Was she working on the rest of the suit and lost track of time?

@THEDARKKNIGHT1939 - I dunno. I kinda like the overall look. The cobbled-together mask adds to the character in a unique way.

If there is a "final" version, I hope it finds a way to keep the cloth ski-mask aesthetic. Maybe like Zemo's mask in The Falcon and the Winter Soldier, but without all the face padding.

I like it as a proto suit of sorts. Not a fan of the acrylic nail claws but I’ll get over it

In all honesty, they never get it right with Catwoman, be it in the comics or the films, except for Michelle Pfeiffer and the vintage tv shows iterations. Look at Zoe's look right here, her mask is absolutely horrible. It looks like a cheap-ass balaclava, that's been cut-out. Do u know how useless those balaclavas are? they stretch so easily, become loose so easily. Its NOT what Catwoman should wear. Maybe for starters, yeah, then she improved and get a mask that is cohesive with the outfit, same material. And what's with the exposed face there, the bridge of her nose is being exposed? Catwoman is NOT supposed to be recognizable, nonody knows her identity. If this is just a comic book cover, then i dont really care, but if this is how Catwoman is going to look in the film, then Im truly disappointed with the choice... Ive been a Catwoman fan eversince 86! Ive got tons of her comics, and statues and figures too. And she's my most favourite DC character of all time. Fingers crossed the film will get HER right this time. Im not counting on it, but Im hoping... cautiously.

@Darlene1974 - I dig Nolan's Catwoman. I like the cat ears got some functions as x-ray vision or google. the suit is also good.

@solskulldeath - i didn't mine Hathaway catwoman, I'm just disappointed her backstory in that film is just a screenshot from Bruce's computer, that's all. THat's appalingly disrespectful of Nolan to just brush off her background. He goes all out for the other characters cos they are MORE in the film? Catwoman is VITAL in Batman's life, yet she was just 2-dimensional in that film. All it would take is just 5mins, just to show her journey into how she became Catwoman, that's all. Yet they cant even do that.... But, it is what it is...

What the balls.

Arguably some of the best casting in any CBM ever, incredible tone, seemingly great story, and it looks like they covered all bases in every aspect of this film, except...

Did they run out of budget when it came to the masks? Her mask, his cowl, wtf, folks? Did they get to the first day of shooting and had everything else lined up and then Reeves was like "hey costume department, let's get these two masked up" and they were like "oh, sh*t, knew we forgot something" and somebody just happened to have a child's ski mask in the car from a family trip to Aspen and somebody else ran home to get their homemade Batman cosplay from Comic-con 2008?

Srsly, folks.

wtaf.
