The Batman is set to hit theaters a little over a month from now, and even though official press showings won't begin for another couple of weeks, some have been lucky enough to get an early look at Matt Reeves' highly-anticipated reboot via test and industry screenings.

We've already reported on a few vague details, but we now have our first proper reaction via Awards Daily's Erick Weber.

Weber's source describes The Batman as a "complex film," comparing it to several movies such as Zodiac, Chinatown, The Silence of the Lambs, and The Usual Suspects. Reeves has already brought up David Fincher's acclaimed serial killer drama, but the others are very interesting indeed. We won't get to see these mysteries unravel for ourselves until March 4, but it certainly sounds like we can expect at least one major twist.

Finally, it's believed that The Dark Knight's latest adventure will be "controversial" and "endlessly" discussed.

Of course, this is just one person's opinion, but it does give us a little more to go while we wait for the rest of the social media reactions.

"Two years of stalking the streets as the Batman (Robert Pattinson), striking fear into the hearts of criminals, has led Bruce Wayne deep into the shadows of Gotham City. With only a few trusted allies — Alfred Pennyworth (Andy Serkis), Lt. James Gordon (Jeffrey Wright) — amongst the city’s corrupt network of officials and high-profile figures, the lone vigilante has established himself as the sole embodiment of vengeance amongst his fellow citizens."

“When a killer targets Gotham’s elite with a series of sadistic machinations, a trail of cryptic clues sends the World’s Greatest Detective on an investigation into the underworld, where he encounters such characters as Selina Kyle/aka Catwoman (Zoë Kravitz), Oswald Cobblepot/aka the Penguin (Colin Farrell), Carmine Falcone (John Turturro), and Edward Nashton/aka the Riddler (Paul Dano). As the evidence begins to lead closer to home and the scale of the perpetrator’s plans becomes clear, Batman must forge new relationships, unmask the culprit, and bring justice to the abuse of power and corruption that has long plagued Gotham City.”

We recently learned that The Batman will be rated PG-13 for “strong violence, disturbing content, drug content, strong language, and some suggestive material.” The movie is set to hit theaters on March 4.

I can tell you the controversial part its about how Batman will deal with Riddler at the end...maybe he kills it for the monstruosity of flooding Gotham, or maybe he spare him for the murders....either way people will talk endlessly

@Malatrova234 - No way they are doing that after almost a DECADE of people complaining about Superman killing Zod (an unlike Batman, Superman doesnt have a no-kill rule in the comics!).

I just hope the "controversy" is nothing regarding Selina and a fridge...

@TheHumanSpider2 - Well..Selina getting the fridge treatment will certainly suprise me , maybe The Riddler its a patsy and the real culprit walks unnoticed at the end and thats the Usual Suspects part.

@Malatrova234 - I think after the backlash of BvS and the WBs attempted fixes in JL, a Batman killing just wouldn’t get past the execs, but you never know if Reeves sold it as a story point maybe.

My feeling is that the Batman will lose, he’ll be left questioning his mission, his parent’s legacy and so in a way Riddler is the hero of the story

@Knightrider - Totally this...i expect the Court of Owls to be revealed and the Waynes outed as part of them....i really dont know where else the whole "legacy of my parents" things could go.

Too early to say, but it seems The Dark Knight finally met its match, and we'll spend years discussing which is better.

The controversial aspect is probably that Thomas Wayne and in general the Wayne family are criminals. Riddler's motivation seems to be revealing that to Batman and punishing Gotham because it has been shaped and molded by the Wayne family.

@Scarilian - While I agree, Joker did a pretty similar thing with Thomas already...

I think the Riddler will be largely sympathetic unfortunately.
