Amy Adams Comments On The Gal Gadot As WONDER WOMAN Backlash

In an interview with MTV, Adams reacts to the very vocal fan contingent that believe her soon-to-be Man Of Steel 2 co-star Gal Gadot is "too thin" to play Wonder Woman, by recalling her own experiences playing Lois Lane in the first movie.

Wonder Woman is generally drawn as a very tall, pretty muscular lady and that's just what some fans want to see in a movie. So when the fairly slender Gal Gadot was cast in the role, there were some predictable cries of "too thin/small/not an actual Amazonian warrior!" echoing around the web. While doing press for American Hustle, Amy Adams was asked about this. She admitted that she was "not familiar with [Gadot's] body shape," but that she could sympathize with being the subject of fan critiques. "I don't buy into that," she tells the site. "Not that I [don't] believe that it's happening, but I'm certainly not a classically drawn woman as they exist in comic books, so I had to embrace that I just had a baby, I still hadn't gotten my waist back. Lois is not about proportions, Lois is about her intellect and her savvy reporting skills and her empathy for Clark, and so I just didn't think about it." But anyway, Adams reassures that for this role, director Zack Snyder will indeed ensure Gadot packs on some muscle. "She is going to be yoked, man. He is going to make her a beast," she says. Yes, I'm sure they have calculated her hysical makeup into ths equation. This is not something I'm worried about. I hope she is getting into shape t, but, she needs an acting coach to ine tune her as well.

It could go either way, but, I remain confident that this will be a hit. Especially if Mr. Phoenix agrees to play Lex. Oh yeah...

just the first two pics posted on the article shows that she isnt the best choice.

Look to the comics pic of Wonder Woman, and see those eyes, and then look at Gal.

she DOESNT have the eyes, neither the face of Diana.

There were many other actress with a much closer look.

Such a dissapointment

Backlash? It was more bitching that she's too skinny cause you know, no actor ever buffs up for a role! Especially in a Zack Snyder production!

@Nasseal0101

I'm going to say this about Gal Gadot, the majority of us only know her from The Fast and The Furious films. That is not a suitable series to judge an actor's talents since they're working with horrible scripts. No one in that franchise tires to act because what they keep getting is shit you just can't work with. Henry Cavill was in the same boat as her except he had the tv series The Tudors to showcase some of his acting. Immortals and Cold Light of Day, he was bad in, not because of his acting skills but because the movies scripts and director's did NOT give a damn.

Still meh on the casting, for the simple fact this was a chance for some of the thicker ladies to get some love. Anytime someone like Jennifer Lawrence see herself as obese by Hollywood standards something is wrong in the world.

I didn't know you were a casting director...Have you seen her act in movies besides F&F, where there is not much acting required?

That's really not my argument against her, and I agree that it is a very superficial one that can easily be fixed with wardrobe and training.

My problem is that she CANNOT ACT.

Why are people ignoring her limited body of work and just focusing on her body?

From the neck up she LOOKS like Diana (a younger looking Diana), but she has no stage presence, no charisma, can't act, and has only appeared as eye-candy in everything she's been in. That's it. She's shown no range of emotional or anything. She just looks pretty.

Forget the physical aspect, she's just terrible as an actress and needs years more experience.

^ That's pretty bad.
It's very sad when Diesel out-performs you in a scene.

If she could act I'd be behind her 100% because she foots the bill in other regards if she eats a sandwich and works out.

Why are people comparing here to Heath Ledger now? Heath was an extremely accomplished actor who PROVED that he could act. He isn't comparable to her.

Actually, the main thing I got out of that scene is how painfully bad of an actor Vin Diesel is.

I've only seen a few comments here and there from people that don't agree with the casting.
Where has there been any significant backlash??
