Smallville's Michael Rosenbaum, seen by many as the Lex Luthor is doing rounds promoting his new film Back In The Day. On his way he talked to Cinekatz about his favourite role in the DC universe and Jesse Eisenberg's casting as the next Lex Luthor! Here's what he had to say:

When asked which of his two characters he'd rather be, Rosenbaum went with the scarlet speedster!
I would lean toward The Flash kind of guy. The guy who wants to take light of the situation, when everyone is so upset and the world is dying he’s like, “Hey everything’s going to be alright! Let’s go bowling!”. That’s always been me. That’s kind of me and I’ve always had that temperance- the ability to make things better than they are. I think that’s my gift, honestly, is to entertain. I’d have to say I’d be closer to The Flash. I have some evil in me but I’d be positive for the most part.

Rosenbaum was then asked about passing the torch from one Lex to another. He had this to say about Eisenberg:
First off, I think he’s a really good actor. I don’t think he needs any advice from me, he’ll do his homework. Do it your way. I’m sure Zack [Snyder] has an idea. He cast you for reason. Jesse’s a good actor. He’ll do it his own way and that’s the best way. If you can do it your way, if you succeed or fail, you succeed because you are being original. If you’re trying to emulate someone, you’ll always be compared. That’s why I didn’t want to be compared during Smallville. I didn’t watch any of Gene Hackman as Lex. He’ll be fantastic. Great actor, no problem with it.

Thanks to CBM's Brainiac3000 for the source What do you think? Who'll be the better Luthor? Eisenberg or Rosenbaum? Sign off your thoughts below! Michael Rosenbaum is currently staring in Back In The Day:

'Pass the torch'?

Since when did we start acknowledging Smallville as anything other than CW crap?

So because he doesn't have your opinion no one cares about him? I can tell you thats a lie as he is my choice for the Flash.

If he can get in shape then I'd love for him to play Flash. He could really make him a star while still being down to earth. Everyone above that said that his opinion doesn't matter because he was on Smallville can go back to eating enormous piles of SH#T. He's a great actor and you guys don't know anything.

@Havenless when they gave us the best live action interpretation of Lex Luthor. It'd be a shame if Eisenberg can't be better than Smallville's version of Lex.

I have mixed emotion on Mr. Eisenberg but I will withhold judgment till the movie actually comes out. I really hope though Eisenberg, Affleck, and Gadot knock it out of the park.

He looks like the Flash. He could totally pull it off, not just because of his voice. He reminds me a lot of the Alex Ross version.

Rosenbaum was great as The Flash on Justic League. He's probably too old now, but he might have made a good live action Flash in his younger years. Apparently he's a bit of a jokester in real life.

The most shocking announcement on this website to date is when Grif said he had a fiancé.........I did not know how to react because one Grif said something beside the line of "This show is $hit" or that he has a fiancé.....Huh! I think it is the first thing not the latter.

He was a decent Lex but never blew me away. I think my boy Ben will steal the show! Jesse will be fine and Gal and Supes will kill it. I don't refer to the actor playing Supes because, to me, he is Superman now. This movie has the potential to be the best CBM of all time considering the characters. I can't wait to see Ben blow us away! Dammit this friggin movie is so far away!

Eisenberg MUST BE BALD...acting is his job but if the filmmakers don't give him bald look,it won't work.

i'd bet that eisenberg will be a good luthor, only a different kind. I'm still annoyed we have to wait till 2016 for one [frick]ing movie all the while they keep announcing development deals for films none of us really give a shit about.

I'd love for him to play The Flash. He looks a little different from Lex, so people wouldn't look at it like isn't that guy Lex Luthor? Plus he's played The Flash before for quite a while actually on Justice League Unlimited. Sure he was Wally West for the most part, but he was Barry in Justice League: Doom, and I think he's got a feel for the character, and he could play it as well in live action as he does in animation.

He's describing him like wally west. And not even the real wally but the wally from Justice league cartoon which is based mostly on bart allen(personality wise). I say no thank you

No worries man. Yeah, I had no prior knowledge of Micheal Rosenbaum outside of the Lex Luthor role so it was a really awesome surprise to see how funny he actually is.
