BLACK ADAM Star Sarah Shahi Seemingly Confirms Her Heroic Role In The DC Comics Movie

While we know who pretty much everyone is playing in Black Adam, there are a few actors whose roles have not yet been revealed. Actress Sarah Shahi, however, may have just let the cat out of the bag...

Black Adam has started shooting, and we're keeping everything crossed that some set photos surface to give us a first look at the members of the Justice Society of America in action. Concept art has obviously offered a sneak peek of what we can expect, but seeing the likes of Dwayne Johnson, Aldis Hodge, and Pierce Brosnan suited up promises to be a mind-blowing experience.

One cast member who we don't know much about is Sarah Shahi. There's been plenty of speculation about her role in the DC Comics adaptation, but she's now appeared to have confirmed which character she'll play.

"Today is my first day filming #blackadam. I was cast in this role a year ago. I've had ups, downs, lefts and rights. They all led me here," Shahi wrote on Instagram. "Very proud to represent my fellow middle eastern brothers and sisters as Adrianna. Let's continue to lift each other up as we tell each other's stories. Human stories. Connecting stories. Stories we all have inside of us."

Adrianna? Yeah, that's got to be Adrianna Tomaz. Better known as Isis (we're guessing that name will be changed for Black Adam), she's been portrayed as the anti-hero's bride, and, after receiving the Amulet of Isis, she gained a number of superhuman powers including the ability to control the elements.

We're definitely excited to see what she brings to the table, and will hopefully have more details to share with you soon. Shahi is best known for her roles in The L Word and Sex/Life

The rest of the Black Adam cast includes Noah Centineo, Quintessa Swindell, Marwan Kenzari, James Cusati-Moyer, and Bodhi Sabongui. It's currently set to be released on July 29th, 2022.

Will they call her Isis

@dracula - As someone who has been interested in Egyptian culture my entire life basically and enjoys many fantasy franchises based on that mythology, I'm so angered that the name of such important central figure has been given this horrible overlapping meaning through out the entire western world. It's almost like how nazis stole and forever rebranded the swastika symbol before and during WWII.

@Odin - there is another meaning behind the swastika?

@dracula - Yes. IIRC in both Hinduism and Buddhism.

@dracula - Yeah, it had many positive meanings in Asian cultures like Buddhism and Indian culture. Even as military symbol, Finnish air forces used as part of their logo it long before nazis (and still haven't given it up completely).

Strange no Supergirl or Flash article last night.

Flash was an improvement this week. Hope we see Chillbane again, he is no Leonard Snart but given time he would be a good replacement if they ever form the actual rogues.

Supergirl was decent, not really a lot of plot progression. Seems like the plot is stalled until Melissa comes back

Also Black Lightning.....that was not a good backdoor pilot, felt like something out of the 90’s or early 2000’s. Doubt it will be picked up

She might get me excited to see this. The Rock can’t make me eager for Black Adam I guess.

Shahi is like unnaturally gorgeous to the point I kind believe she is real. Love her and she is a damn good actor too. I’m actually quite optimistic about this movie.

Hopefully WB will have the guts to call her Isis, because Isis was a goddess and is nothing like the terrorist group.

That's some good casting. Not really surprising though, but I guess nice to have confirmation

So people have a problem with ANY diversity and go "But what about Black Panther being a white guy?" even in instances where race ISN'T integral to the character. But a Western Asian woman playing an Egyptian goddess? Totally not sacrilege. Nope. Cause she's hot.

I became a Sarah Shahi fan from Person of Interest. Check out her interview w/ Craig Ferguson on YouTube. She's a gem
