Black Panther: Wakanda Forever took us on a highly emotional journey in the wake of Chadwick Boseman and T'Challa's deaths, but the sequel was also an important next chapter for the wider MCU. As well as introducing Namor, we also got to spend some time with Riri Williams ahead of Ironheart's release on Disney+ next year.
Now, we have some new concept art from the movie courtesy of Anthony Francisco and Phil Saunders. The former has shown off a few alternate Namor designs, one of which gives the anti-hero a lot more blue on his skin (it looks cool, though we can see why Marvel Studios didn't head down that route).
There's also a very cool shot of Namor wearing armour more akin to his comic book counterpart, and that's a look we'd definitely like to see on screen one day.
As for Saunders, he's shared a "near-final design of the [Iironheart] Mk2 suit," though has us curious with his comments that this is "actually the Mk 2.5, but that’s another story." Could it be that there was an additional suit removed from Black Panther: Wakanda Forever due to time constraints or story reasons? Hopefully, we'll find out at some point.
Interestingly, the artist also notes that a copper-coloured armour was considered at one stage, with that changing to the red we eventually saw on screen in order to pay homage to "Tony Stark and Riri's father's beloved red-and-black Barracuda."
By the time the Black Panther sequel ended, Riri had been forced to leave her new suit behind in Wakanda, likely because it was made from Vibranium. Ironheart set photos have, however, confirmed she will create her own upgraded designs for a battle against The Hood (and possibly Mephisto if recent rumours are to be believed).
Black Panther: Wakanda Forever is now playing in theaters.
