As you'll no doubt already be aware, the Dora Milaje are the Black Panther's personal bodyguards. The formidable female warriors have already shown what they're made of in the Marvel Cinematic Universe, but in this November's Black Panther: Wakanda Forever, we'll see a completely different side to them.
The Midnight Angels are a subgroup of the Dora Milaje, and are considered a strike force composed of the best of these warriors. In the comic books, T'Challa sent them after Doctor Doom when he stole Wakanda's Vibranium.
Considering this sequel looks set to revolve around the rest of the world taking aim at the precious metal in the wake of the Black Panther's death, you can probably see how the source material has inspired their big screen debut. Whether Doctor Doom will be involved in these attacks on Wakanda obviously remains to be seen.
At D23, Marvel Studios put a number of costumes on display for fans, and as you can see, the Midnight Angels look like they've been torn straight out of the pages of the comics.
In the MCU, the group will be led by Ayo and Aneka, played by Florence Kasumba and franchise newcomer Michaela Coel.
In Black Panther: Wakanda Forever, Queen Ramonda (Angela Bassett), Shuri (Letitia Wright), M’Baku (Winston Duke), Okoye (Danai Gurira) and the Dora Milaje, fight to protect their nation from intervening world powers in the wake of King T’Challa’s death.
As the Wakandans strive to embrace their next chapter, the heroes must band together with the help of War Dog Nakia (Lupita Nyong’o) and Everett Ross (Martin Freeman) and forge a new path for the kingdom of Wakanda. Introducing Tenoch Huerta as Namor, king of a hidden undersea nation, the film also stars Dominique Thorne, Michaela Coel, Mabel Cadena and Alex Livanalli. The movie arrives in theaters on November 11.
