BLACK PANTHER: WAKANDA FOREVER Logline Promises To "Explore The Incomparable World Of Wakanda"

There's still an awful lot we don't know about Ryan Coogler's Black Panther sequel, but a brief logline for the film does promise that the filmmaker plans to further explore Wakanda and its characters!

Chadwick Boseman's tragic death following a lengthy battle with cancer left us all reeling, and while the Black Panther sequel wasn't remotely important in the grand scheme of things, comic book fans couldn't help but wonder how the actor's legacy would be honored by Marvel Studios.

After much consideration, director Ryan Coogler started reshaping the film's screenplay, and it remains on track to arrive in theaters next summer.

Yesterday, the sequel was given an official title - Black Panther II became Black Panther: Wakanda Forever - and Marvel.com has followed that by sharing a brief logline. "Marvel Studios’ Black Panther: Wakanda Forever will continue to explore the incomparable world of Wakanda," it reveals, "and all of the rich and varied characters introduced in the first film."

"Written and directed by Ryan Coogler, who was behind Black Panther, the film will be released on July 8, 2022."

It doesn't tell us much, but it sounds like Black Panther: Wakanda Forever will take a deep dive into King T'Challa's home, while more than likely introducing a new Black Panther for the MCU.

Who will inherit the mantle is a mystery, though Shuri, Erik Killmonger, M'Baku, and Kasper Cole remain high on the wishlists of many fans. What we do know is that Boseman's T'Challa won't be brought back with visual effects, and a new actor will not replace him as the beloved superhero.

Wonder how they'll handle T'Chala not appearing. Kinda hard to imagine a Wakandan movie without its king.

Here's hoping on their creativity. So sad the man passed.

@Fogs
If it's set between IW and Endgame it would make perfect sense tho, considering that BP got dusted.

Wonder how Wakanda changed in those 5 years.

Matter of fact, i always keep asking this question but they barely show any difference, at least in the last 2 tv shows, i hate that.

@Doomsday8888 - What do you mean? The last 2 shows were basically about how the snap changed things lol? Falcon & Winter Soldier's villain and their entire motivation was about the snap and how people coming back forced them out of their homes. WandaVision was more contained but her entire motivation was a result of the snap driving her insane with grief.

F&WS did it a bit, that's true, but...nothing out of this world.
But when watching Endgame you truly feel lile so many things have changed in the world, the tech-progress, nature gettin back on its feet etc...

Wakanda was always pretty advance, after 5 years things must've changed even more.

Anyone that can make M'Baku the Man-Ape a respectable and compelling character deserves the benefit of the doubt.

@Reeds2Much - I loved Winston Duke on Person of Interest, the guy has some serious talent.

@Blergh - Unlike Jim Caviezel, who's now a Q-anon conspiracy theorist.

@Battabing - wut?! He is one of those idiots?
Man, shouldn't be shocked given that he did a "Infidel" recently.

Guess he can star in a movie next to Gina Carano soon...

Anyway, the movie will be with us for a little over a year.

So we should be getting some casting announcements.

Killmonger is dead. Woudn’t him coming back from the dead and doing exactly what t’challa stopped him from doing be a disservice to the first one? I thought we were trying to respect the story of the first?

@MutantEquality -
Those involved were just worried about a backlash if they recast T'Challa. That's all this has been, trying to pretend that an actor is above recasting - despite Chadwick Boseman's main desire being that the character would inspire others - which won't happen if his character does not return in future in some form.

A lack of recasting means that until we get a reboot, we won't get T'Challa Black Panther again. That's what people don't seem to really grasp about the situation, that character is gone now.
