BLACK PANTHER Star Michael B. Jordan Continues To Play Coy When Asked About Possible MCU Return

Black Panther star Michael B. Jordan has once again been asked about the possibility of reprising the role of Erik Killmonger in Black Panther: Wakanda Forever, but he's choosing his words carefully...

Erik Killmonger may have been Black Panther's "villain," but with a cause it was easy enough to relate to given the current state of the world, this was a character who worked more in shades of grey than black or white. As a result, fans remain eager to see more of T'Challa's cousin, despite the fact that he appeared to die in the Black Panther's arms in Ryan Coogler's 2018 movie.

Chadwick Boseman's tragic death has led to many hoping Killmonger could find redemption and become the MCU's new Panther, especially as he was the last person to consume one of Wakanda's Heart Shaped Herbs. Actor Michael B. Jordan did return as a Variant in What If...?, but continues to choose his words carefully when asked about any sort of live-action reprisal.

Talking in the video below, the actor said this about the possibility: "Man, I mean, I think it’s a character and a world that I love so much. Who knows? But as we all know, Marvel has their plans and their things, and who knows how things are gonna shake out?"

Something tells us we will see him in Black Panther: Wakanda Forever, but whether that will be as the new Black Panther remains to be seen. Letitia Wright's Shuri is currently the most obvious suggestion, though there has been chatter online that M'Baku (Winston Duke) could be next in line to take over the mantle. What we do know is that there are no plans to recast Boseman's T'Challa.

Black Panther: Wakanda Forever arrives in theaters on November 11, 2022.
