BLACK PANTHER: WAKANDA FOREVER Actor Winston Duke Will Have An "Expanded Role" As M'Baku

Marvel's Black Panther: Wakanda Forever resumed production this week, and a new report has confirmed that Winston Duke negotiated a "hefty raise" to return as M'Baku for an expanded role.

Yesterday, we got word that Black Panther: Wakanda Forever had resumed production in Atlanta following a short hiatus, and THR has now shared a few interesting updates.

According to the trade, Winston Duke negotiated a substantial raise to return as M'Baku for what is being described as an "expanded role in the Panther mythos." This could simply mean that the leader of the Jabari Tribe will have a little more to do in the sequel, of course, but many feel that M'Baku should be the one to take up the mantle of Black Panther in T'Challa's absence, and this news has only fuelled ongoing speculation.

Shuri is still the bookie's favorite to follow in her brother's footsteps, however, and it's also been confirmed that Letitia Wright is back on set after taking some time off to recover from an injury. There's been some concern that the actress, who has espoused controversial anti-vax views in the past, might still be unvaccinated. Wright's status remains unclear, but THR does add that "those issues have been resolved."

These delays are not expected to impact Wakanda Forever's release date, and the sequel is still expected to hit theaters on Nov. 11, 2022.
