Could we finally see Namor make his Marvel Cinematic Universe debut in Black Panther: Wakanda Forever? If a new rumor is to be believed, that's who Narcos: Mexico actor Tenoch Huerta is playing in Ryan Coogler's sequel.
The Illuminerdi reports that Black Panther 2 will indeed revolve around the conflict between Wakanda and Atlantis as previously speculated, with Huerta leading the Atlantean forces as the Savage Sub-Mariner. We found out late last year that the actor had been cast as the main villain, but no further details on his role were provided.
Apparently, actors are currently being sought to play Namor's fellow deep-sea warriors Namora and Cadmael.
Rumors relating to Namor's MCU introduction have been doing the rounds for years, and this isn't even the first time we've heard that the character was set to debut in the Black Panther sequel. Still, the source does have a pretty good track record, so we're going to give them the benefit of the doubt on this one until we hear otherwise.
It's worth noting that Avengers: Endgame writers Christopher Markus and Stephen McFeely were asked about the much-discussed exchange between Black Widow and Okoye about oceanic earthquakes last year, and appeared to confirm that it was indeed a vague reference to Marvel's Atlantean antihero.
What do you guys make of this rumor? Our advice is to not read too much into it for the time being, because there's a good chance that the trades will weigh in if there's any truth to the report.
