Black Widow is now playing in theaters across the globe, while it arrives in the U.S. tomorrow evening before becoming available on Disney+'s Premier Access everywhere starting Friday morning.
Talking about the movie during a recent interview with The Hollywood Reporter, Marvel Studios President Kevin Feige spoke about the multi-picture deals actors were frequently signed up to in the past. Remember, Samuel L. Jackson once famously agreed to nine movies in 2009, while Chris Evans and Chris Hemsworth committed to six-picture pacts. Now, things have changed.
"That got a lot of attention way back when, with I think Scarlett, and (Chris) Hemsworth and Evans and Sam Jackson. It varies now," Feige explained. "It varies, project to project, cast to cast. Really, what we want are people that come in, are excited to be in the universe, are excited at the opportunity to do more things, as opposed to being locked into contractual obligations."
In other news, Marvel Studios has shared more new content to hype Black Widow, including a new featurette exploring how the movie ties into the future of the Marvel Cinematic Universe. We also have another poster putting the spotlight squarely on Natasha Romanoff as she leaps into action.
In our review, we concluded by saying, "Black Widow is Bourne meets Bond meets Terminator...with two outstanding, badass female leads. Action-packed, funny, and at times surprisingly gut-wrenching, Cate Shortland's vision for the MCU is bold, empowering, and utterly unmissable."
In the movie, Scarlett Johansson reprises her role as Natasha/Black Widow, Florence Pugh stars as Yelena, David Harbour portrays Alexei/The Red Guardian, and Rachel Weisz is Melina. Black Widow is directed by Cate Shortland and produced by Kevin Feige; Black Widow - the first big screen story in Phase 4 of the Marvel Cinematic Universe - arrives on July 9th both in theaters and on Disney+.
