Chris Evans And Anthony Mackie On How 'Winter Soldier' Fits Into CAPTAIN AMERICA: CIVIL WAR

Another couple of very fun video interviews with Chris Evans and Anthony Mackie have surfaced, and they both feature some cool new details about Captain America: Civil War. Where does Bucky fit into things, and just how much of an Avengers movie is this? Read on for details...

Both of the interviews below are well worth checking out (particularly to see Chris Evans constantly trying to touch the face of Anthony Mackie much to his co-star's discomfort), but as I mentioned above, it's what they have to say about where The Winter Soldier fits into the story which is no doubt the most notable reveal here. "The relationship between the three characters is more so a bond of kindred friendship," says Mackie on how Bucky fits into Captain America and The Falcon's bromance. "My respect for Cap helps me to help him find Bucky because I know how much that means to him, knowing where he's come from and everything and what he's gone through to this point. It's more so of an understanding and respect than it is three guys chumming around having a good time." That actually sounds a lot like how their relationship played out in the comic books.

Evans meanwhile was quick to emphasise that the friendship between Steve and Sam is still going to be a major part of Captain America: Civil War. "You've got to understand, Cap coming off the last movie, Falcon's the one guy - having known the least in terms of history - he actually trusts the most. There's a really nice kniship between these two characters and they do a really good job of picking up where we left off." As for whether this busy follow-up to Captain America: The Winter Soldier feels more like an Avengers movie than another solo outing for his character, Evans added: "I don't know if it feels like an Avengers movie having been on an Avengers movie where you have to really balance a lot of storylines. They do a pretty good job of understanding the arc of what the story needs." What do you think about these latest details? Sound off below!

What do think about the description of Cap as a vigilante? In the comic book CW storyline he's portrayed as a fugitive after he rebels...

Cap as a vigilante may make more sense if he's on the run in this film or if there's an atmosphere that after age of ultron, the govt wants control of the avengers, but the registration isn't implemented just yet, and Cap continues to operate ignoring the govt. Then the incident happens, Cap defies registration and the world views him as a vigilante who doesn't adhere to the powers that be

@ComicsBornAndBred

That's the best explanation I read about the whole Vigilante thing not some pseudo-intellectuals questioning others' understanding of the term Vigilante and justifying with their asses that Cap has always been a Vigilante in MCU up to this point.

That makes sense if they go that route. Without proper ground of the conflict those fights will seem shallow in the movie.

Evans is the coolest actor in MCU.

DC/WB Rocks, but seriously, Marvel's energy was definitely missing during Comic Con this year, they always have fun interviews

I'd take a guess and say Baron Zemo. Not too sure how they'll fit him into the film though.

TheOracularNerd- he'll probably use the act as a way to put his enemies against each other making it easier for him to achieve his goals. if im honest i dont care what he does in the film as long as he survives i want him and the masters of evil in phase 4.

I've heard that they'll all have new costumes today from Evans or Mackie in an interview so I guess there's that.

@AbhiShake people sometimes forget that, with both the avengers and justice league, whwn they don't cooperate with the govt, the perspective on the teams changes towards the negative. It's happened countless times in the comics and even animation (JLU). ITs a common plot point. It's a little more political here as the Russos like to explore the politics and societies views on war and terror. When US soldiers act in war, there's chaos and loss of lofe, hit it's expected and tolerated because the actions were in the name of the law in a way. But when the avengers act and cause chaos, it's actions of individuals acting outside the law, thinking they know what's best in a society that look to the govt for important decisions on war and justice

The fanboys are coming. The fanboys are coming.

@TheOracularNerd

I'm sure he'll fit right in with Cap, Tony, Vision, Scarlet Witch, Hawkguy, Black Widow, War Machine, Falcon, Bucky, and the introduction of Spider-Man & Black Panther.

I wonder how Chris Hemsworth is feeling right now, seeing Evans and Mackie having so much fun...

In all seriousness, can't wait for this movie. I'm happy that the Russos are doing this instead of Whedon. Don't get me wrong, I like Whedon and both Avengers movies very much, but some of the humorous lines he has gets me.

Between Captain America & Falcon, Iron Man & War Machine, and Paul McCartney & Stevie Wonder, Marvel be spreading that Chocolate/Vaniila bro-love big time.

not that we don't already get that in the existing films as well as likely Civil War, but a movie centered on the trio of Cap/Bucky/Falcon would be a pretty cool and fun movie to explore. You could even keep Widow and make it a foursome w/ some cool team name.

Just gotta point out that the Russos do not write the script. I see a lot of comments talking about how they do political stuff, exploring views on war and terror, and also some are glad it's the Russos and not Whedon because of dialogue...that is due to the writers, and the Russos are only directing. Directors always get way too much credit and blame for these movies (unless, like with Whedon, they do also write the script of course).

Winter Soldier gets a lot if praise, and yes it's deserved, but I really urge you guys to look up who wrote it, and examine the other Marvel movies they wrote. You may be very surprised by their filmography.

I have faith this movie will be as good or better than winter soldier, it seems they make it a point to further the interpersonal relationships between the characters
Chris and Anthony's playful attitude offscreen is promising

@ruadh true true. Markus and McFeely are talented. They have an Emmy for a miniseries and wrote the chronicles of Narnia film series which was decent. People think they wrote all of Thro TDW but they only did a few re writes.
ruadh
ruadh - 8/16/2015, 8:22 AM
I agree about TDW. I haven't seen a truly bad film by Marvel yet. Some are better than others, but they are all entertaining.

I definitely appreciate that the writer's are the throughline with the Cap trilogy. I know FA gets some lack of love, but it was just too fun and charming for me to dislike.
