Intriguing New Details About 'Baron Zemo' And Martin Freeman In CAPTAIN AMERICA: CIVIL WAR
Confirming Baron Zemo will go by more than one name in Captain America: Civil War, Kevin Feige also teases the mysterious role Martin Freeman is going to be playing in the highly anticipated sequel. Oh, and we now also know for sure whether Hulk and Thor are going to show up...
Confirming that neither The Hulk nor Thor will be making an appearance in Captain America: Civil War, Entertainment Weekly caught up with the threequel's screenwriters to ask why the Jade Giant and God of Thunder are being left on the bench here. "You put those guys in a fight, it’s over quickly. It’s like, ‘Well, we have the Hulk on our side.’ Oh, fine, then," Christopher Markus explains. "You’ve got to kind of choose your roster depending on what kind of fight you want to have." Someone many fans believe is responsible for causing said fight is Daniel Bruhl's mysterious villain, and while the actor has said he's playing Baron Zemo, is that actually the case? The site claims that he goes by more than one name, with "Baron Zemo" being just one of them, while Marvel Studios President Kevin Feige reveals: "I will say that his character is very much a product of the Cinematic Universe and all that has occurred within that universe up to this point."
Is anyone else getting some serious Red Skull vibes from those comments? Regardless, Zemo is far from Captain America: Civil War's only mysterious character, with Martin Freeman's unnamed government agent also set to take on a key role here before appearing elsewhere in the Marvel Cinematic Universe. "He’s under the cloak of secrecy," Feige teases. "There are a lot of amazing actors in this movie. Some of them play larger roles than others. And in some cases there are some you will meet ever so briefly in this film and then will be expanded upon in future films. He falls into that latter category."
